Starfield 2.0 Could Be Real After All

Fans are buzzing about a possible major update to Starfield, nicknamed ‘2.0’, but Bethesda hasn’t announced a release date yet.

For a while now, there have been rumors about a new Starfield update and downloadable content coming in 2025, but we haven’t had a firm release date. Bethesda has hinted at it a few times – most recently a few months ago – and even teased something called ‘Terran Armada’ in an anniversary message. Unfortunately, they haven’t shared any specific details yet.

Bethesda is Handling Starfield 2.0 in a ‘Weird’ Way

The popular Defining Duke Podcast recently discussed a major update for Starfield, often referred to as ‘Starfield 2.0.’ Co-host MrMattyPlays claims to have previewed the update privately and, while speaking with guest Gene Part, noted that Bethesda’s approach to the update feels unusual.

Matty admitted he’d seen it privately, but he’s not able to share any details beyond that. He also said he doesn’t know when it will be released.

What to Expect from Starfield 2.0?

While we don’t have many specifics yet about the next version of Starfield, a recent report suggests some exciting changes. It sounds like traveling through space will be smoother, with less waiting for loading screens, and the tools for creating content in the game are being improved for both space travel and future games.

I’m so hyped for the Starfield 2.0 update! Apparently, it’s finally coming to PS5 and the new Switch 2, which is amazing! The developers are really working to get it running well even on those smaller, handheld devices. I’ve seen some rumors that it won’t be as big of a leap forward as the Cyberpunk 2.0 update, but honestly, I’m taking those with a grain of salt until Bethesda officially confirms everything. Still, the possibility of playing Starfield on the go is incredible!

So, I was reading that one of the lead designers on Starfield recently talked about what didn’t quite work in the game. It’s got me thinking… do you guys think we’ll see a seriously upgraded version – like a ‘Starfield 2.0’ – by 2026? What big improvements would you like to see? Let’s chat about it in the comments, and if you’re interested, come hang out with us on the TopMob Discord!
