In Arknights: Endfield, the quest ‘Paving the Way’ is part of the ‘Turbid Heavens’ Chapter I, specifically Process II. You can start it after finishing the ‘Fort Showdown’ quest. This quest doesn’t involve any combat; instead, it focuses on learning about the Hub and how to unlock constructs to improve material production.
Paving The Way Quest In Arknights Endfield
To begin the ‘Paving the Way’ quest in Arknights: Endfield, find Andre in the AIC Core Area. He’ll explain how to improve your factory. The game will then prompt you to open the AIC Factory Plan, which unlocks the development tree, allowing Endmins to build more powerful structures.
To unlock new features, you’ll first need to collect AIC Index Points from the Protocol Datalogger. These points are shown as tall, yellow balloons on the map.
Okay, so as an Endmin, I’ve been checking out the AIC Factory Plan, and this Simulation feature is seriously cool. Basically, it lets me practice with everything – all the different builds and figuring out what materials I need before I actually start building for real. There are even goals inside the Simulation, and when I finish them, I get rewarded! It’s a great way to learn the ropes and get some goodies while doing it.
Mining II
We recommend building a Mining II station first. It’s used to extract rare ores like Amethyst and automatically sends the materials directly to the PAC, eliminating the need for belts. To begin the simulation, enter the Electric Mining Rig.
When using AIC mode, place three Electric Mining Rigs on top of three Amethyst beds. Then, place an Electric Pylon nearby. Activate the rigs by starting transmission from a Relay Tower and connecting it to the Pylon. Finally, check the Electric Mining Rigs to ensure their belts are clear and functioning correctly.
Return to the PAC using the Zipline. Once the machines are prepared, deliver the Amethyst Ore to the PAC Output Port to begin producing Amethyst Fiber. This finishes the Simulation, and you’ll be returned to your factory.
Go to the quest marker and set up two Electric Mining Rigs on the purple Amethyst beds. Then, place an Electric Pylon right in the center.
Find a nearby Relay Tower to power up the machines, just as you did in the Simulation.
Go to the Orginium Ore mining areas and dismantle any old mining machines you find. Simply interact with them and select the ‘stash’ option. Then, place the two Electric Mining Rigs. You can also power the Pylon directly from the PAC if you want, since it’s close enough – within 80 meters.
Grab 50 Amethyst and 50 Orginium from the rigs or PAC and hand them over to Andre.
Gearing Tech
Next thing on the list is Gearing Tech, a machine used to combine materials into products.
Connect a Belt from PAC Output Port 1 to the Refining Unit, and another Belt from PAC Output Port 3 to the second Refining Unit. Then, run Belts from both Refining Units to the Gearing Unit. Finally, deliver Orginium Ore to PAC Output Port 1 and Amethyst Ore to PAC Output Port 3.
The Refining Units produce Origocrust and Amethyst Fiber. The Gearing Unit then combines five of each of these materials to create one Amethyst Component.
To get the Gearing Unit Blueprint, open the ‘Blueprints’ section within the ‘AIC Factory Options’ located in the bottom right corner. Once placed, the blueprint will automatically set up the required machines – all you need to do is connect it to the PAC. Successfully finishing the Simulation will unlock the Gearing Unit Blueprint.
Okay, so after you’ve completed the Simulation, the next step is super easy! Just go back to your Hub and find the Blueprints section. Place the Gearing Unit Blueprint there, then all you need to do is unload your Amethyst Ore and Orginium Ore into the designated output slots. Then, just wait – it’ll automatically craft 20 Amethyst Components for you! It’s a pretty straightforward process, and I was glad to see it wasn’t too complicated.
Open the crafting menu, and craft four Miner Overalls, then deliver them to the quest mark.
Parts Fitting
To finish the Paving the Way quest, you need to unlock “Parts Fitting” and craft some “Amethyst Parts”. You can unlock Parts Fitting by opening the development tree and using a Basic AIC Index.
Okay, so I needed to build a Fitting Unit in my Hub, and luckily I had an extra output slot free on my PAC. I just dumped some Amethyst Fiber into the PAC’s output port, then connected it all to the Fitting Unit using a conveyor belt. Pretty straightforward!
To speed up production, connect a Fitting Unit to the Refining Unit that makes Amethyst Fiber using a Belt. Then, run another Belt from the Fitting Unit to the PAC. This setup automatically turns Amethyst Ore into Fiber, then into Parts, and finally stores them in the Depot.
Deliver the 10 Amethsyt Parts to Andre to complete the Paving the Way quest in Arknights: Endfield.
