A reliable source is suggesting that Sony will host a new PlayStation State of Play event in February. Many PlayStation fans are curious about release dates for several highly anticipated games planned for 2026, and this event could provide some much-needed answers.

February is often a busy month for gaming news, with big franchises like Pokemon frequently making announcements. Sony has a history of holding “State of Play” presentations in February, and many believe it’s time for another one. Their last presentation was in November 2025, highlighting Japanese-developed games. Before that, in September, fans saw details about Housemarque’s Saros, the first look at Insomniac’s Marvel’s Wolverine, and a variety of other game reveals. If recent rumors are accurate, we can expect even more announcements soon.

PlayStation State of Play Rumored for February

NateTheHate, a reliable source of gaming news, reaffirmed a rumor about an upgraded version of Red Dead Redemption 2. During the conversation, someone asked if a PlayStation “State of Play” presentation was planned for February. Nate directly confirmed that it is, saying, “There will be, yes.” Although Nate seems certain, fans should wait for official confirmation from Sony before believing the rumor.

Nate didn’t share any information about which games will be featured, so fans are now guessing. It’s likely Sony will continue to promote Bungie’s Marathon before its March 5th release, possibly with a new trailer or news about a free trial weekend. With Resident Evil Requiem launching at the end of February, we might also see another update for that game, like a launch trailer.
