EXCLUSIVE – Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake is Closer Than You Think

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must say I was taken aback by the news of the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake coming sooner than expected! I still remember the thrill of sailing the open seas as Edward Kenway in the original game back in 2013. The anticipation of this remake has been a beacon of hope amidst the deluge of lackluster releases in recent years.

Earlier this year, we heard rumors about a remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, and recent intel hints that its release might happen faster than many anticipate.

As whispers about a remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag surfaced online, many, including us, speculated that it would take several years before its release. However, recent details and confidential documents about the game received by TopMob under a non-disclosure agreement hint that the game is further along in development than expected and might be unveiled sooner than anticipated.

Initially, before the postponement of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, it was planned for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake (known as Obsidian) to launch around November 2025. This release coincides with the expected debut of the series’ multiplayer project, codenamed Invictus.

TopMob recognizes that Ubisoft’s plan for the Assassin’s Creed series involves launching approximately ten different games over the next five years, each offering unique lengths and experiences. This strategy includes Assassin’s Creed project Jade, a robust mobile game with a potential release date in Q2 2025 (FYQ1 26).

Despite the setback with the delay in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, as mentioned by Marc-Alexis Côté in an internal email, this postponement might influence the entire Assassin’s Creed schedule. As a result, the Black Flag Remake might arrive sooner than some of us had anticipated.

Test footage of gameplay for the Black Flag Remake, kept confidential, depicts character Edward Kenway navigating a ship powered by the enhanced Anvil Engine. (This version is more concise and maintains the original’s informative tone while making it easier to understand.)
