How Star Wars Jedi Spells an Inevitable End for Greez Dritus

As a seasoned gamer who’s been through the Star Wars galaxy more times than I can count, I find myself deeply invested in Cal Kestis and his crew’s adventures in the Star Wars Jedi series. The potential of their story arc is tantalizingly unfulfilled, much like a Wookiee left hanging from a tree branch.

The Star Wars Jedi series, with its immense potential, has reached a fitting conclusion in the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The series has been carefully constructed to maintain a self-contained narrative, likely due to limitations in altering established timeline lore within the broader Star Wars universe. Given that Cal Kestis and his Stinger Mantis crew haven’t made appearances elsewhere in Star Wars media as of yet, it appears their story will have only minimal impact on Star Wars lore when everything is wrapped up.

Another interpretation is that the team might not significantly impact the larger Star Wars mythology, as they may not survive beyond “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor” and suffer tragic ends. This theory seems plausible given Cere Junda’s current status, and there’s still room for Merrin and Greez Dritus to meet similar fates in a potential third Jedi game. If Merrin were to die, it would have a profound effect on Cal. The fate of Greez was hinted at in “Fallen Order” with the introduction of the Haxion Brood, suggesting that his luck hiding could eventually run out in a future installment. With the Haxion Brood relentless in their pursuit, there’s a chance Greez’s long-term survival may not be possible.

Star Wars Jedi’s Greez Dritus is Living on Borrowed Time with the Haxion Brood Around

For quite some time now, Greez has been under the watchful eye of the Haxion Brood, dating back to the events of “Fallen Order”. With the Latero’s movement gradually diminishing, it seems only a question of when this criminal syndicate will finally catch up with him. Although the Haxion Brood haven’t posed much trouble for the Stinger Mantis crew, aside from Cal and BD-1 being taken captive on Ordo Eris, they managed to break free rather effortlessly and have been efficiently dealing with any bounty hunters sent after them ever since.

Despite its challenges, the Haxion Brood possesses a relentless determination. Even with Sorc Tormo present, the Haxion Brood could continue to be a recurring annoyance – not necessarily on Tanalorr, but considering the wandering nature of Star Wars Jedi and their frequent travels across planets, it is doubtful that Cal and the Stinger Mantis crew will always remain far from the Brood’s new sanctuary.

On the Stinger Mantis team, risks haven’t typically been significant for most members. However, Cere’s demise may imply that no one is immune while a formidable danger lurks among them. Darth Vader targeted Cere personally, and given his severe injuries during their confrontation, this explains why he didn’t finish off Cal afterward.

Greez is the Backbone of the Stinger Mantis Crew and Cannot Be Made Obsolete

Since Greez is the primary reason bounty hunters pose a threat, it’s not unreasonable to think that the Haxion Brood might still harbor resentment towards him. If Cal wasn’t around to protect him, or if they managed to locate Greez when he and Cal were apart, there’s a good chance Greez’s life could be in peril, potentially leading to another rescue mission in a future installment.

In simpler terms, Greez skillfully maneuvered through the Koboh Abyss using Cal’s Force abilities and Cere’s spectral guidance. If Cal finds the compass in Bode Akuna, it might no longer be necessary for Greez to stay and pilot the Mantis.

In the movie “Survivor,” Greez didn’t have to pilot the Mantis, but it was still delightful to have him around whenever they returned to the ship. Consequently, it could be possible to write Greez off as a character by leaving him permanently on Tanalorr to live out his days in tranquility without any need to worry about potential dangers, which he deserves given his past.
