Walmart accidentally revealed that two games will be added to the Nintendo Switch Online service. One of them is Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, which unfortunately means a fully updated remake of the game isn’t likely to happen.
Ever since the successful remake of the first Metroid Prime in 2023, fans have been eagerly awaiting a remake of Metroid Prime 2. Many believed Nintendo hadn’t added the second game to its online service because a remake was already in development.
Metroid Prime 2 & Pikmin 2 Coming to Nintendo Switch Online
A promotional image on Walmart’s website for the Nintendo Switch Online subscription features several games included with the service, including two titles that haven’t been officially announced yet.
The picture suggests Pikmin 2 and Metroid Prime 2 will soon be available on the service, and with a Nintendo Direct event expected next week, an official announcement might be coming soon.
Metroid Prime 2 will be added to the game subscription service, but the original Metroid Prime isn’t included. Players who want to experience the first game will need to purchase the updated remaster version.
Since Nintendo probably wouldn’t release the original Metroid Prime 2 on the Nintendo Switch Online service if they were planning a remake, this news suggests a remastered version is still quite a ways off – or might not happen at all.
