Highguard Reveals 2026 Roadmap

Wildlight Entertainment has revealed an exciting plan for Highguard, promising new content and episodes every month after launch. Since its initial announcement in December 2025, players have been eager to learn more about the game. While the first trailer suggested a typical hero shooter, Highguard has evolved into something different – a ‘Raid shooter’ – and will be supported by a substantial amount of downloadable content.

The journey for Highguard has been unusual. After a big reveal at the 2025 Game Awards, Wildlight Entertainment went strangely quiet for a month, which was surprising given the game was already scheduled to launch on January 26, 2026. This silence led fans to worry about a potential delay, but the bigger issue seemed to be a lack of information about the gameplay and limited marketing efforts to build excitement. Despite these odd choices, the game’s release seems to have gone relatively smoothly.

Highguard Reveals Ambitious DLC Plans

Wildlight, the studio behind the new game, is composed of developers who previously worked on popular titles like Titanfall and Apex Legends. It appears they chose to announce and release the game simultaneously, much like they did with those previous projects. On the day of the game’s launch, they hosted a Highguard showcase event, unveiling a wealth of new information and providing an in-depth look at the game’s raid system. Immediately after the showcase, the game was released to the public.

Despite receiving mixed reviews, the free-to-play game Highguard is attracting a growing number of players, particularly on Steam. The developers have announced an ambitious plan to keep players engaged with regular updates, including a content roadmap for the next year. This plan includes new episodes released in two parts, each lasting about two months, with the first new episode starting in February and continuing into March. Throughout 2026, they aim to release a total of seven episodes, but that’s just the beginning of their plans for downloadable content.

Every month, new episodes will bring fresh content to the game, including new characters (Wardens), weapons, rideable mounts, and base options. For instance, February’s update will feature a new map, Warden, and mount, plus the option to play Ranked Mode. The March update will add another base and a raid tool. Throughout 2026, players can look forward to 6 new Wardens, 5 bases, 3 maps, and lots more. The developers are also hinting at some unexpected surprises and special, limited-time game modes later in the year.

Beyond major downloadable content, Highguard players can anticipate ongoing improvements to the game. Like many live service titles, Highguard will be continually updated and refined based on player feedback, with adjustments to gameplay and bug fixes. In fact, the game received its first update just one day after launch to resolve some initial stability and crashing problems. Wildlight Entertainment has also assured players that they are working on additional fixes and plan to release more updates throughout the week.
