ARC Raiders is Getting a New Ban System, But Players Don’t Think It’s Tough Enough

ARC Raiders received a significant update today with the release of ‘Headwinds,’ the first of four planned content drops scheduled before April. This update includes seven new quests, a small change to the game map, two new Augments, and various other improvements. Embark Studios also announced that a new ban system to tackle cheating players will be rolled out soon.

The developers of ARC Raiders recently clarified in their update notes that players receive permanent bans only after repeatedly cheating. However, many players believe the system isn’t acting quickly enough to deter cheating effectively.

Does ARC Raiders Need Tougher Anti-Cheat?

During the holidays, ARC Raiders players experienced issues with cheaters and exploits, and the game lacked fresh content because the Embark Studios team was on vacation.

Now that they’re back, a massive roadmap has been revealed, detailing content up to April 2026.

Today, the developers released the first stage of their planned updates, called ‘Headwinds’. This update includes new content, a unique map feature that covers Buried City with birds, and seven quick quests for players to complete. It also begins to reveal more of the game’s backstory.

So, the latest patch notes were mostly great, but there’s one thing that’s really bumming players out. It just doesn’t feel as good as all the other positive changes, and we’re a little disappointed about it.

Almost at the end of the update, it was written:

We’re introducing a system where repeated rule-breaking will lead to increasing penalties. First offenses will result in a 30-day ban, followed by a 60-day ban, and ultimately a permanent ban for those who continue to violate the rules.

Players who have dealt with cheaters recently think the current ban system isn’t harsh enough for those caught breaking the rules. While the update was labeled as ‘Anti-Cheat,’ it seems to be a broader system for banning anyone who violates the rules, not specifically targeting cheaters.

Honestly, as a player, a 30-day ban just doesn’t seem like enough to deter cheaters. They get a 60-day penalty if they’re caught again, but it takes three offenses before Embark Studios actually permanently bans them. It’s frustrating to think someone could be caught cheating three separate times before anything serious happens!

Games like Escape from Tarkov have a strict policy against cheating: even one instance can lead to a permanent ban, and the game publicly identifies banned players. While cheaters might try to return with new accounts, this strong response aims to stop them right away.
