Talk about the next Star Wars Jedi game is heating up! While Respawn Entertainment and EA have confirmed it’s in development, details have been scarce. However, a recent claim from a well-known source suggests the game might be released sooner than many fans expect, sparking a lot of discussion.
The first Star Wars Jedi game, Fallen Order, came out in 2019, and Survivor was released in 2023. If the next game also takes four years to develop, we can expect it around 2027. However, recent rumors suggest a release in the first half of 2026, which has caused some disagreement among fans.
New Star Wars Jedi 3 Rumors
According to Idle Sloth, a well-known source in the gaming industry, Star Wars Jedi 3 is expected to launch in the first six months of 2026, leaving around five months for promotion and release. The game is rumored to offer a less structured experience, featuring galactic hubs designed for deeper exploration. The story is anticipated to be more mature and darker in tone, introducing a new enemy faction connected to the Force, but separate from the Empire. Players can also expect an expanded range of Force abilities and a combat system that’s described as more impactful and responsive, building on the foundations of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
Why A Lot of Fans Don’t Believe These Rumors
To wrap things up, Idle Sloth says the 2026 release is because of EA’s patterns, Respawn’s team growth, and feedback from Jedi: Survivor. And despite the apparent early 2026 release date, there’s caution around the title due to “fan expectations, corporate oversight, and EA’s past issues with monetization.” The response to these rumors is quite telling. By and large, the fandom is split around the claims of the more open-world Star Wars experience, the removal of the Empire, and the changes to combat. Largely, however, many point out that a 2026 release is unlikely.
While many people would like to see new Star Wars games released sooner, most believe 2027 is a more realistic timeframe. Considering how long these games take to develop, and with two other Star Wars titles โ Star Wars: Zero Company (from Bit Reactor and Respawn Entertainment) and Star Wars: Galactic Racer โ already scheduled for 2026, a third release this year seems improbable. The fact that some of Respawn’s team is already focused on Zero Company further supports this view.

Why Some Fans Do Believe These Rumors
Some people believe the claim might be true. They point out that a shorter timeframe between announcements and releases makes sense, since most games are revealed well in advance. Also, Respawn Entertainment recently canceled a few projects due to layoffs, which could free up resources to focus on both Zero Company and Jedi 3. While it’s unusual, it’s not impossible for a studio to release multiple games in one year โ Obsidian Entertainment is planning three in 2025 and Playground Games has two scheduled for 2026, but those instances are rare.
Like all rumors, this information should be viewed with skepticism โ maybe a lot of skepticism. When content creator JorRaptor asked the original Twitter user for their source, they didn’t respond. While anything is possible, a lot would have to go right for these rumors to turn out to be true.
