How to Get the Ladybug Buggy Mount in Grounded 2 Toxic Tangle

The latest update for Grounded 2, called Toxic Tangle, is now available! One of the biggest additions is a new vehicle called The Ladybug, which players can use to explore.

The new Ladybug Buggy will make dealing with the troublesome Toxic Slobs in the new map area much easier. It also lets you carry a lot of supplies and quickly defeat flying enemies like Moskitoes, Wasps, and Butterflies using its built-in water cannon. This guide will show you how to get the Ladybug Buggy in Grounded 2 and how to use it effectively.

How To Get Ladybug Buggy in Grounded 2

To get the Ladybug Buggy in Grounded 2, you first need to advance the main story until you unlock the Hatchery. Then, keep playing until you can explore the new Toxic Tangle area. Unlocking the Hatchery Blueprint requires 500 Raw Science. If you don’t have enough, you can get more by scanning resources with the Analyzer or completing Ranger Challenges.

To get a special bed for their new buggy, players need to find a Disk. This Disk unlocks the recipe for the Ladybug Nest and is hidden inside the Fairy Garden House – a tiny building that leads to an Ominent Lab. You’ll easily find this cottage because it’s right in the center of the Garden Biome while you explore the new area.

Explore the lab, but watch out for the green puddles – they can cause trouble! At the end of the tunnels, you’ll find a special item called the Fairy TURBO Optical Disk. You need to pick it up and put it into a Ranger Station to unlock a new recipe.

Players who have built a Hatchery and Nest for their mount will now need a Ladybug Egg to start the hatching process. You can find these eggs in the Toxic Tangle, so that’s our next destination.

Where to Find Ladybug Eggs in Grounded 2

You can find Ladybug Eggs in the Garden Biome, towards the upper right of the map. Look for the Ladybug nests close to the Cabbage Patch in the orchard.

These eggs are bright red and round, and they’re usually hidden amongst the cabbage leaves. You’ll need a Buggy, like an Orb Weaver or Soldier Ant, to easily reach them. But grabbing an egg isn’t the only challenge – you’ll also have to deal with the Ladybugs and other insects that will immediately become aggressive once you take one.

Okay, so after you snag an egg, you normally have to carry it all the way back to your base and drop it off at the Hatchery. But here’s a neat little trick I learned: you can actually have one of your Soldier Ants pick up the egg in its mouth – yep, you read that right! – and just tell it to head back to base. It’ll drop the egg off for you, saving you a ton of time and effort. It’s a lifesaver, trust me!

Still, there’s even a better way to bypass this. Follow these steps:

  • Make sure to have your Respawn Point set at your base near the Hatchery.
  • Give the Ladybug Egg to the Soldier Ant Buggy and then ‘respawn.’
  • Once back in the base, call the Buggy (press T on PC, or Right on the Controller’s D-Pad)
  • Take the Egg from the Buggy ‘s mouth and place it in the Hatchery to hatch.

It will take about 20 hours for the Egg to hatch, after which players can finally ride their new Ladybug mount and explore the Toxic Tangle DLC in Grounded. This Ladybug is special – it’s equipped with a water cannon!
