Franz the Dejected Assailant Boss Guide in Code Vein 2

Look, I’m a big fan of Soulslike games, and one thing they always deliver on is tough boss battles. I’ve been playing Code Vein 2, and let me tell you, it’s keeping up that tradition! You run into a seriously powerful boss pretty early on, and it’s a real challenge.

After the initial tutorial, players finish the Noah’s Ark section and return to the present day. They then have the choice to travel back in time to rescue Noah, which starts the battle with the Dejected Assailant. Here’s a complete guide to this boss fight and what happens after you win in Code Vein 2.

How to Beat Franz the Dejected Assailant in Code Vein 2

The Dejected Assailant is a tough boss with attacks that can be difficult to avoid. Many of his attacks are quick, and constantly rolling to dodge them will likely lead to your defeat. He frequently attacks with a three-hit combo using his altered left hand.

The first two attacks happen very quickly, so you have to dodge them immediately one after the other. The final attack in the combo is slightly delayed, designed to throw off your timing, so practice will help you learn when to dodge it.

The boss occasionally jumps back or flies up to attack with a long-range weapon. He usually fires two or three shots, so dodging isn’t always reliable. Instead, start running sideways as soon as you see him begin this attack.

Parrying is the most effective way to defend against most of this enemy’s attacks. You can obtain the Mutinous Bracer from Jadwiga’s minion inside MagMell. This bracer lets you parry, but each successful parry consumes some Ichor. Time your press of L1/LB (on your controller) just as the attack is about to land to stagger the boss briefly, creating an opening for your own attacks.

Once the boss loses 30% of its health, a cutscene will trigger, starting the second phase of the battle. Franz will then carry his own head, which he can use to inflict the Stone status effect on players.

This enemy has two main attacks. One is a quick, purple beam fired from its head that’s hard to avoid. The other involves it jumping into the air and focusing energy downwards, hitting a large area and inflicting a status effect.

Okay, so I’ve figured out a cool trick with this boss! If you’re right up in his face when he does that big attack, you can actually keep hitting him and even interrupt it. But heads up, a lot of his attacks are way more dangerous now. He’s got this new one where he slams his hand into the ground and drags it towards me, then yanks it out – seriously, that one hurts if you get caught in it!

Okay, so if you got the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition of the game, you have to try out the Ame-no-Habikiri Greatsword! It does a ton of damage right off the bat, and honestly, it’s been a game-changer for me when fighting this boss. Seriously, it makes a huge difference.

After you beat the boss, you’ll receive the Superbia Bloodlone: Frantz Blood Code. When you return to the present, you can open a chest to obtain the Shield of Stupor, and Noah will become your partner. This will allow you to progress further in the story and unlock more of the game’s map.
