A recent report suggests that Square Enix intends to release Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on the Switch 2 in the summer of 2026.
According to a trusted source, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is still on track for an Xbox release in 2026. The game’s director has also confirmed that both Part 2 and Part 3 are being developed for the upcoming Switch 2. Recent news suggests the Xbox port might actually arrive earlier than originally planned.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Switch 2 Release Window Reportedly Revealed for 2026
According to a new report from The Gamer, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is currently planned to launch on the Switch 2 this summer. While Square Enix is aiming for a summer release, the timeline could shift if more development time is needed. As of right now, summer remains the target.
If this is correct, it’s great news for fans of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series on other consoles, especially since the Intergrade version came out on Xbox Series X/S just over a week ago.

There’s a good chance Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will come to Xbox Series X/S this summer, alongside a version for the new Switch 2 console. According to a trusted source, NateTheHate, both versions are expected to launch around the same time as the original Remake. This means players on Xbox and Switch 2 could get the next chapter in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake saga very soon.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s third part will continue to be built using Unreal Engine 4. Fans can also look forward to the return of snowboarding and improvements to the Queen’s Blood minigame.
