League of Legends Has The Smartest Fans In the Industry, Study Reveals

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can attest to the fact that the gaming world is a fascinating microcosm of human intelligence and skill. The recent study by WhichBingo, which ranks League of Legends as having the most intelligent player base, resonates deeply with me.

As a gamer myself, I recently stumbled upon some intriguing findings from a survey conducted among over 1,000 fellow gaming enthusiasts. The study, orchestrated by WhichBingo with a team of brilliant psychologists backing it up, revealed that League of Legends players are considered the most intellectually sharp in our gaming sphere.

Sorry, Rocket League fans

Based on a recent study by EsportsNewsUK, which I’ve come across, it seems that League of Legends boasts the most strategically-minded players globally. Frankly, I find it astounding how intricate this game is; I’m left scratching my head trying to grasp its mechanics, and the competitive players in this game continue to impress me beyond words.

At the other end of the scale sits FC 24 and Rocket League. It was assessed that the player bases for these games boast an IQ hovering around the 90 mark, while League of Legends gamers boast an average IQ of 120.4.

Black Myth: Wukong, which boasts an average player IQ of 119.8, claims the second spot in our rankings, followed closely by Baldur’s Gate 3 at 117.9 IQ. The rest of the top five includes Counter-Strike and Elden Ring, both housing players with impressive intelligence.

In the center of the table, you’ll find a diverse assortment of games, spanning from Battlefield 2042, Escape from Tarkov, to Deadlock and Genshin Impact. Each game boasts an impressive intellectual level, with Battlefield 2042 and Escape from Tarkov at 105.8 IQ and 104.2 IQ respectively, while Deadlock and Genshin Impact both stand tall at 108.7 IQ.

In the ranking, Call of Duty surpasses Rocket League at the eighteenth position, as its gamers typically have an average intelligence quotient of 95.3, with Warzone and Modern Warfare 3 players included.

It seems that as games become more complex with competitive elements and intricate mechanics, they tend to attract players with higher average IQ levels. This is because these games demand a stronger cognitive ability to play well and truly appreciate them. Consequently, simpler games like jet-powered car soccer or less strategically deep shooter franchises often rank lower in terms of player base intelligence.
