Scott Pilgrim EX, a new cooperative fighting game, was first shown at Summer Game Fest 2025. Bryan Lee O’Malley, the creator of Scott Pilgrim, is also involved in the story. The developers have confirmed seven characters will be playable at launch, and have so far revealed four: Scott Pilgrim, Ramona Flowers, Lucas Lee, and Roxie Richter, suggesting more characters will be announced soon.
Scott Pilgrim EX Reveals 2 More Fighters, March 2026 Release Date
The latest trailer for Scott Pilgrim EX dropped on January 28th, giving us a firm release date of March 3rd! The trailer also revealed two new playable characters: Matthew Patel and Robot-01. Patel focuses on flashy, area-of-effect attacks with summons, fire, and dramatic finishing moves, fitting the game’s fast-paced, over-the-top combat. Robot-01, on the other hand, is all about speed and controlling the battlefield, using boosters, transformations, and a barrage of explosive projectiles to create openings for team attacks.
The new game, Scott Pilgrim EX, will be released on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC all at the same time. The developers, Tribute Games, have announced that physical copies are on their way and that they’ll soon reveal the last playable character. You can already add the game to your wishlist on Steam. While the price hasn’t been officially announced, based on their previous games, it will likely cost around $29.99. Tribute Games describes Scott Pilgrim EX as a new, standalone story that honors the original series and features open-world brawling and multiplayer gameplay similar to the beloved Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game.
In Scott Pilgrim EX, you’ll navigate a city divided by competing groups, using a variety of weapons and unique character abilities that can be improved over time. The core gameplay involves fighting, exploring, and repeating – a classic formula for beat ’em up games. The game’s version of Toronto is a large, connected space that encourages players to explore. Unlike typical brawlers with set levels, Scott Pilgrim EX lets you freely move between areas, complete quests, find secrets, and upgrade your characters with badges and stat boosts. This adds a lot more variety and makes the game replayable.
Scott Pilgrim EX lets up to four players team up, either in person or online, to explore and battle together. Players can work as a team using the environment to their advantage and combining each character’s unique skills. The game features a more open city design, giving players freedom in how they tackle each area. The story kicks off when Sex Bob-omb’s instruments are stolen, leading Scott, Ramona, and their friends on a rescue mission across the city, facing off against demons, robots, and other classic enemies. The developers at Tribute have added optional side quests, hidden secrets, and references to previous Scott Pilgrim games and comics, giving dedicated fans even more reasons to thoroughly explore the city and return to areas with upgraded characters.
Tribute has emphasized that all characters will be fully equipped with their moves from the beginning. Instead of unlocking abilities, players will progress by customizing their fighters. They can use in-game currency to adjust stats and equip items like badges that provide extra benefits, allowing builds to change and improve over time, even though all core fighting moves are available right away.
