Bungie has just released a new update for Destiny 2, fixing many bugs and problems players have been experiencing. The update also includes some minor changes to how player abilities and weapon perks, such as All-Star, function. Although players are still unsure what the future holds for Destiny 2, especially with reports of the Shadow and Order update being pushed back in favor of the Marathon project, Bungie is keeping things interesting with special, limited-time events.
I’m so excited Arms Week is back in Destiny 2! This time it’s all about Combat Bows, and they’ve brought back some old favorites along with two brand new ones. Plus, there are special mods available for a limited time. But that’s not all – they’ve also started a really tough community challenge called the Dark Age Hunt. We have to solo Warlord’s Ruin using only Bows, Glaives, and Swords! If we pull it off as a community, we’ll unlock a cool emblem called Fallen Torches. And to top it all off, there was a new update that dropped right alongside Arms Week!
Destiny 2’s Update 9.5.5 includes a comprehensive set of fixes and improvements, detailed in the latest patch notes. Many issues in the Renegades expansion have been addressed, including glitches in the Fire and Ice exotic mission and unexpected behavior in the Lawless Frontier activity. Additionally, the Opportunist Triumph now tracks progress correctly, and Invasions are now properly counted when finishing Exotic job contracts.
This update makes rewards from the Destiny 2 expansion, Edge of Fate, better. Players can now earn gear with power levels above 300. Many noticed this improvement in the patch notes and are excited to replay the expansion, while others hope similar updates will come to other parts of the game, which currently feel underpowered and offer weak rewards. Players need to feel appropriately rewarded for their time; otherwise, they won’t be motivated to play.
So, the latest patch really shook things up with our Guardian abilities. I noticed as a Titan main that my Ballistic Slam wasn’t giving me a free Bolt Charge just for using it – I actually have to hit someone now, which feels right. Warlocks had a similar problem with Lightning Surge, but that’s been fixed too. Good news for Warlocks though – Lightning Surge now gives you Amplified when you cast it! One last thing for my Warlock friends – you can’t cancel the animation for a Healing or Empowering Rift by spamming emotes or switching weapons anymore. It’s a little annoying, but probably for the best.
Image via Bungie We’ve made a few changes for Hunters. The Nightstalker’s Mobius Quiver super won’t give you a benefit if it’s stopped before you can use it. We fixed a problem with the Combination Blow ability in player-versus-player combat. And the Gunslinger’s Gunpowder Gamble will now work as intended, increasing in power with your upgrades and counting as grenade damage – which could make it a very powerful ability depending on your build.
Image via Bungie This update includes several improvements to weapon perks. The All-Star perk now correctly increases weapon damage by 35% in PvE activities and 15% in the Crucible. The Adrenaline Junkie perk will now activate with both Grapple melee attacks and Hellion kills. The Opening Salvo mod has been updated to work with Swords, and a bug affecting the sound effects of Renegade’s new blaster weapons when overheated has been fixed.
Although the latest update includes several important improvements, a problem is preventing players from fully enjoying the current Arms Week event in Destiny 2. Ada-1, the vendor for this event, isn’t accepting Combat Telemetry, the special currency needed to participate. It seems the game is incorrectly identifying the current Telemetry as being from past events, making it unusable for Ada-1. Since Arms Week only lasts for one week, players are hoping Bungie can resolve this issue quickly.
