In the fictional world of Euchronia, Grand Trad serves as its primary city, akin to Refantazio in metaphor. During the initial significant mission of the game, players will occasionally visit this bustling town. Although the primary objective is to thwart the Necromancer, there are numerous secondary tasks available, such as acquiring The Breath Of Fresh Air.
If you advance to Wisdom rank 2, Brigitta, the proprietor of the Igniter Shop, offers a unique side mission for you. This mission leads players into a distinct dungeon tailored for this specific quest. At the culmination of the dungeon lies your objective, the formidable Grotesque Guptauros, who proves to be no walk in the park.
Preparing For The Grotesque Guptauros In Metaphor: ReFantazio
- Protagonist – Seeker
- Strohl – Warrior
- Hulkenberg – Knight
As a gamer, first, ensure my character, the Seeker, has learned Tarukaja at Rank Four. Then, engage in real-time combat to level up the Mage to level two for both Strohl and me. This way, we’ll learn the spell Blizz. Utilizing Skill Inheritance at Akademia, I then transfer over the Blizz spell to the Archetypes we’ll be using in the upcoming battle. Sadly, there are no places within this dungeon where we can buy Ice Chunks as a replacement for this spell.
Prioritize enhancing your team’s stamina and defense using armor and accessories, making them as strong as possible since this boss delivers powerful blows. Although not mandatory, securing Medica for the Healer and subsequently passing it onto Hulkenberg’s Knight can provide a potent full-party healing spell to defend against the boss’ multi-target attacks.
Avoid using a Mage or Healer character class, as they can provoke the boss into a fury, making the battle extremely challenging.
How To Beat Grotesque Guptauros In Metaphor: ReFantazio
The Grotesque Guptauros has a weakness to Ice and Pierce.
In this battle, the secret lies in employing Hulkenberg’s Jump Thrust Synthesis maneuver because it targets the boss’ vulnerability, inflicts massive damage, and reduces its defense for a span of three rounds. You can boost this effect up to thrice for even greater damage amplification, with the character utilizing Tarukaja on Hulkenberg to enhance the total damage output. Although armed with a Warrior, Strohl’s primary role will be to deploy Blizz and gather extra Press Turn symbols, while concurrently healing when required.
The Main Character needs Blizz as well, with an objective to gather more Icons so that Hulkenberg can employ two Jump Thrusts. Keep in mind, the antagonist follows a specific sequence: the initial two moves could be single-target or area-of-effect attacks, but every third move remains consistent. The fearsome Guptauros will nullify any debuffs caused by Jump Thrust and Charge Up, significantly boosting the power of the next attack.
When you encounter this situation, let the Protagonist and Strohl employ Blizz as Hulkenberg executes a standard assault. Then, have all three of them shield themselves against the impending heavy-damage attack. Your main goal on each turn should be to unleash a Jump Thrust to inflict damage and keep the lowered defense intact while also enhancing it. An additional aim is to boost Hulkenberg’s attack with the Protagonist. Continue this strategy, revive anyone who falls in battle, and the boss will quickly succumb.
