The latest expansion for the Pokemon Trading Card Game, called Ascended Heroes, has been delayed by several weeks. This delay comes as the game prepares to celebrate the Pokemon franchise’s 30th anniversary with several releases planned for early 2026. While Perfect Order is still set to launch in late March, Ascended Heroes was expected to be a major release to begin the year for the Pokemon TCG.
The new Pokemon TCG expansion, Ascended Heroes, will celebrate everything Pokemon from the past year and give players a sneak peek at what’s coming next. It brings back fan-favorite features like Stellar Tera Pokemon, Owner’s Pokemon, and many Mega Pokemon. The set also introduces characters from the Pokemon Legends Z-A video game, including trainers Corbeau and Canari, to the card game for the first time. Unfortunately, there’s been some disappointing news regarding when the English version of Ascended Heroes will be released.
Ascended Heroes Collections Are Being Delayed
- Ascended Heroes Erika/Larry Collection New Release Date: February 20
The Pokémon Company has announced a delay for a popular product from the Ascended Heroes set in the United States and Canada. The Erika/Larry Collection, originally scheduled for release on January 30th, will now be available on February 20th. The company didn’t explain the reason for the delay, which comes shortly before the initial release date. This new date now coincides with the release of the Elite Trainer Boxes for Ascended Heroes, while the Tech Sticker Collections are still on track to launch as planned on January 30th.
The postponement of the Ascended Heroes Pokemon card set will also impact competitive play. The Pokemon Company announced that cards from this set won’t be allowed in tournaments until March 6. While new Pokemon card sets usually become playable in tournaments two weeks after release, Ascended Heroes was originally set to be legal on February 13. This change will affect events like the 2026 Europe International Championships.
Ascended Heroes Is Set to Be a Huge Pokemon TCG Expansion
Pokemon Trading Card Game fans will have to wait a bit longer for the highly anticipated “Ascended Heroes” expansion. This set is set to be the biggest ever released, boasting a massive 290 cards to collect! It surpasses the previous record holder, the “Fusion Strike” expansion from the Sword & Shield series, which had 284 cards. Early previews of Ascended Heroes have generated a lot of excitement among Pokemon collectors, particularly for cards like the SIR Mega Gengar ex and a brand-new Pikachu ex artwork.
The official rules for the Ascended Heroes tournament will now align with a major update coming to the Pokemon TCG in April 2026. This update will introduce a new card rotation, meaning sets from Paradox Rift and older will no longer be allowed in the Standard format. This change will significantly impact popular and powerful decks, including those featuring Gardevoir ex and Gholdengo ex, as well as essential cards like Arven and Iono. With its release in late February, Ascended Heroes is expected to be highly sought after by both players and collectors.
