It seriously boosts your chances of growing better crops, and you even have a higher chance of getting double the ingredients when you harvest. If you’re hoping to become a great chef or just make a lot of money in Heartopia, fertilizer is something you absolutely need.

How to Unlock Fertilizer in Heartopia

Gardening: Fertilizer Quest Guide

In Heartopia, you can start making basic fertilizer once you’ve reached level 2 in the Gardening Hobby. Right after upgrading, you’ll get a phone call from Blanc. When she asks about testing the fertilizer, choose the option “Leave it to me!” to continue.

Responding in this manner will begin the “Gardening: Fertilizer” quest with Blanc, and she’ll also send you the recipe to craft fertilizer. It’s an easy recipe, needing only two resources you can find early in the game.

  • Timber
  • Weed

You can get wood by chopping down trees, and weeds by pulling them from your fields. Once you have enough of both, make two bags of fertilizer and put one on each of two different crops. You’ll know a crop has fertilizer because it will have small dots in the soil around it.

Completing this step finishes the Gardening: Fertilizer quest. You’ll then unlock the recipe to make fertilizer, allowing you to craft it whenever you have the necessary materials.

Finishing this task will start the “Gardening: Growth Booster” quest, which shows you how to help your plants grow more quickly.

How to Get Fertilizer in Heartopia

You can get fertilizer in Heartopia in two ways: by making it yourself or buying it from Blanc’s gardening shop. To craft it, use the recipe Blanc gives you during the Gardening: Fertilizer quest at any worktable.

As a fan of Stardew Valley, I’ve found a really useful tip! If you’re trying to save money or have some extra gold, Blanc in the shop sells basic fertilizer for 160 gold a bag. He usually has 25 bags available, but if you buy them all, you’ll have to wait for his shop to restock before you can get more.

Okay, so good news for anyone getting into gardening! Once you level up your gardening skill, Blanc will start selling some really good fertilizers – Quality Fertilizer and Top Fertilizer. They become available as you progress: I’ll be able to get my hands on them as I become a better gardener!

  • Quality Fertilizer unlocks at level 5 and sells for 460 gold.
  • Top Fertilizer unlocks at level 7 and sells for 1,000 gold.

How to Use Fertilizer in Heartopia

Using fertilizer is just like planting seeds. Open your inventory, tap the fertilizer icon, and then select ‘hold’ to have it appear in your hands.

When you’re ready to fertilize, look at the plant you want to feed. Yellow corners will appear around the edges of the plant to show it’s selected. Then, tap the fertilizer icon to apply the fertilizer.
