How to Get the Vampire Seed in Terraria

Many of us have spent countless hours playing Terraria, completing the main game repeatedly. That’s why it’s always exciting when Re-Logic releases new secret world seeds!

Terraria world seeds can dramatically alter the game, affecting everything from how the world is created and its colors, to the game’s core rules and overall balance. If you’re looking for a new and exciting challenge with a fresh start, this seed is definitely worth checking out!

Let’s take a look at the mysterious Vampire seed, the impact it has and just how to unlock it.

The Secret Code

If you’ve used custom world seeds before, you’ll be familiar with needing a specific code entered in the world seed menu to start a new world with the latest features.

Here you’ll want to enter the phrase: “What a horrible night to have a curse.”

As a player, I’ve found that it really doesn’t matter if I type a command with capital letters or spaces – the game always seems to understand what I mean anyway! It’s pretty forgiving, which is great.

Okay, I’m so excited about the 1.4.5 update! They’ve added a cool new menu just for special seeds, and it’s a lifesaver. Once you unlock the Vampirism seed, it automatically goes into this ‘Secret Seeds’ section – it’s that tree with the question mark. It keeps all your special seeds safe! But seriously, if you ever want to start a fresh world, remember to take the Vampirism seed out of there, or you’ll instantly be on fire – trust me, I don’t want that to happen to you!

So just what happens when you embrace your Vampiric roots in Terraria?

Unlike the usual starting point, you’ll begin your adventure underground. You’ll quickly find that torches generate naturally in this area, so you won’t be left in the dark. If you need even more light, the Zoologist will sell them for just 75 Copper.

This is really useful because it lets you quickly find underground houses with gold chests, which gives you a good start to the game. You can also head straight for the surface if you prefer, but be prepared for…

The moment you’re exposed to sunlight, your skin will burn and your body will quickly succumb to the intense radiation, resulting in immediate death. However, you will unlock an achievement first – a small consolation!

Fortunately, there are ways to protect yourself from the sun. One simple method is to build a house with walls and a roof, which will shield you from its rays.

If you’re on fire, getting into water will put it out, letting you survive while underwater. Using an umbrella or drinking an Obsidian Skin potion will also protect you. Time to go to Hell and start smashing pots!

A new item, the Amulet of the Night, has been added in version 1.4.5. Normally, you’d only find this amulet by defeating Vampires during a Solar Eclipse. However, in this specific game world, it can also be found in regular chests that appear randomly.

This lets you transform into a bat with unlimited flight, which is normally something you get much later in the game. This gives you a huge advantage for exploring and moving around early on! Keep looking in chests for more items related to vampires.
