Rainbow Six Siege is Adding Solid Snake to the Roster

Rainbow Six Siege is hinting at a collaboration with Metal Gear Solid. A short trailer suggests a new playable character for Rainbow Six Siege based on Solid Snake, the main character from Metal Gear Solid.

Since its release in 2015, Rainbow Six Siege has evolved significantly. The game originally launched with 20 Operators, each possessing unique skills and assigned to either the Attacker or Defender role. Today, over a decade later, Rainbow Six Siege boasts a roster of 76 playable Operators, with Denari being the newest addition in September 2025. Throughout the years, the game has also received new game modes, important improvements to gameplay, and a wide variety of cosmetic items, some inspired by other well-known franchises.

Rainbow Six Siege is Teasing a Solid Snake Operator

On January 29th, a brief 15-second trailer for Rainbow Six Siege was released on social media. The trailer starts with a sound effect and on-screen display reminiscent of the Metal Gear Solid Codec radio. Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell (known as the ‘Zero’ Operator in Rainbow Six Siege) appears on the call, urgently stating, “Our window is closing. We only get one shot at this.” The scene then shifts to a smoky, red-lit room where a figure, seemingly wearing Solid Snake’s signature gray stealth suit, prepares a pistol as dramatic music builds.

The short preview concludes by announcing the full reveal of the Metal Gear Solid and Rainbow Six Siege crossover on Sunday, February 15th at 8am Pacific Time / 11am Eastern Time / 5pm Central European Time. Fans can tune in to the official Rainbow Six Twitch channel to watch. The livestream will also share the plans for Rainbow Six Siege‘s Year 11, likely including details about new Operators and features beyond the Metal Gear Solid collaboration.

Okay, so we’re all hyped for the Rainbow Six Siege and Metal Gear Solid collab, but honestly, nobody knows exactly what’s coming yet. The teaser showed what looked like Solid Snake, but knowing Siege, it could just be a cool skin for an Operator we already have. However, a rumor’s been going around – @Shiiny77 on X started it, and Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming backed it up – that Solid Snake will actually be a playable Operator! If it’s true, we’re looking at him dropping with the start of Year 11 Season 1 in March. Fingers crossed!

According to leaker @Shiiny77, the upcoming Solid Snake Operator in Rainbow Six Siege is codenamed ‘Diamond.’ He’ll reportedly use a special secondary weapon based on pistols from Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid V. This weapon is said to have a suppressor, an Acro scope, and a laser sight, making it resemble the pistol from the original Metal Gear Solid. Fans have noted the similarity to the weapon shown in the teaser. While not confirmed by the leaker, it’s expected that Solid Snake will also have unique cosmetic items, allowing players to customize his appearance with some of his most recognizable looks.

If the rumors are correct and Solid Snake joins Rainbow Six Siege as a playable Operator, it would be a first for the game. Rainbow Six Siege has featured crossovers with games like Halo, Dead by Daylight, Yakuza, Nier, and Resident Evil, but those appearances were limited to cosmetic items for existing characters. Aside from Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell (another Ubisoft game), Solid Snake would be the first Operator based on a character from a completely different video game series.
