Hey everyone, awesome news for Borderlands fans! The plan for Borderlands 4 just got a refresh, and get this – there’s a free update dropping today, January 29th! I’m already downloading it to check it out.
Gearbox has revealed its plans for new Borderlands 4 content coming in 2026. The updates start with a significant free update that introduces a photo mode for players on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 5. This mode lets you customize your screenshots with options like field of view, filters, and screen adjustments. More News on the Updates Coming to Borderlands 4 in 2026
Early in 2026, we’ll be releasing both free and paid updates for the game. The paid update will include the second Bounty pack, called ‘Legend of the Stone Demon,’ and a free update will introduce the new Pearlescent Rarity.
Later this quarter, players will get the first story update, called “Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned.” It adds a brand-new area to the world of Kairos, new missions to play, and introduces C4SH, the first new playable character for Borderlands 4.
More updates are planned for Bounty packs and the game’s story in the second quarter of 2026. The Borderlands team is also adding a brand new Takedown – their most difficult endgame mission yet. This Takedown will be a tough challenge, featuring a new arena and unique bosses.
So, the devs are adding a bunch of cool stuff to make the game better! They’re raising the level cap, meaning more to grind for, which is awesome. Plus, they’re letting my progress carry over between platforms, and even letting me use the same save file on different systems – huge win for someone like me who plays on both PC and console!
