Unseen Domain Expansions With Huge Potential In Jujutsu Kaisen

Unseen Domain Expansions With Huge Potential In Jujutsu Kaisen

Key Takeaways

  • Megumi Fushiguro’s incomplete Domain Expansion, Chimera Shadow Garden, holds the potential for immense power.
  • Hanami’s unrevealed Domain Expansion, Shining Sea of Growing Branches, remains a mystery in Jujutsu Kaisen manga.
  • The unseen Domain Expansion of Yuki Tsukumo, a special grade sorcerer, disappointed fans due to its potential power.

As a seasoned Jujutsu Kaisen enthusiast with countless hours spent immersed in this captivating universe, I can confidently assert that the unseen Domain Expansions of these remarkable characters have left an indelible mark on the narrative. Each one, had they been fully realized, would have elevated their respective abilities to new heights and added another layer of complexity to the already rich tapestry of this series.

In Gege Akutami’s world of Jujutsu Kaisen, the intrinsic ability called Domain Expansion is undeniably one of its power system’s most imaginative aspects. By erecting a boundary, highly skilled sorcerers can fashion their own domain within which their cursed techniques become not just stronger, but they also ensure a direct strike against their adversaries.

While not all sorcerers and curses possess the ability to expand their domains, those who do have demonstrated some extraordinary and captivating skills. Interestingly, several characters from the series have been confirmed as having this power, but for one reason or another, they didn’t get a chance to showcase it. This is regrettable since there’s a wealth of untapped potential in their unseen barrier techniques that we never got to witness fully unfolded.

5 Megumi Fushiguro (Complete Version)

Chimera Shadow Garden Remained Incomplete Until The End

  • First Appearance: Chapter 1 (Manga) Episode 1 (Anime)

It turned out that Megumi Fushiguro‘s Domain Expansion was unveiled during the Death Painting Arc, and it’s called Chimera Shadow Garden. Yet, he declared it was incompletely developed, and he needed to perfect it further before fully harnessing its abilities.

As a dedicated fan, I’ve witnessed Megumi deploy Chimera Shadow Garden on numerous occasions, and the battle against Reggie Star is etched deeply in my memory due to its spectacular use. However, the series ended prematurely, leaving the full potential of this technique unexplored. Even Ryomen Sukuna, when he took control of Megumi’s body, couldn’t complete the Domain Expansion because he opted to continue using his Malevolent Shrine over it.

As a gamer embodying Megumi, I’ve been honing my skills with the unfinished Chimera Shadow Garden. This bad boy allows me to cast shadows all around, enabling simultaneous summons of numerous Shikigami. It’s already a game-changer as a Domain Expansion, but imagine its full potential, making it one of the most formidable abilities in the entire series. And if I could synergize it with my mightiest Shikigami, Mahoraga, oh boy, that would be game over!

4 Hanami

Gojo Exorcised This Cursed Spirit Before They Got The Chance To Use It

  • First Appearance: Chapter 10 (Manga) Episode 5 (Anime)

In the case of all four major cursed spirits with special grades, they possessed the skill to expand their domains. Notably, Jogo, Dagon, and Mahito showcased incredibly potent domain expansions. Unfortunately, Hanami didn’t have the opportunity to demonstrate its own domain expansion before meeting its end. In an attempt to employ it during a battle against Yuji Itadori and Aoi Todo, their display was cut short by Satoru Gojo before activation could occur. Later on, the same sorcerer expelled them during the Shibuya Incident Arc.

In the captivating world of Jujutsu Kaisen, Hanami was a formidable cursed spirit known for wielding flowers and plants in combat. His Domain Expansion could have been extraordinary, given its unique nature. The creator, Gege Akutami, has envisioned how this ability might function, and these ideas were adapted by the mobile game Jujutsu Kaisen: Phantom Parade, where Hanami appears as an adversary. This domain is called Shining Sea of Growing Branches, enabling him to summon a radiant field of blossoms that consistently directs his Solar Beam towards opponents. However, it’s essential to note that Jujutsu Kaisen: Phantom Parade serves as non-canon supplemental content, so there’s no definitive confirmation that Hanami’s Domain Expansion would have functioned in this manner within the manga itself.

3 Ryu Ishigori

A Strong Incarnated Sorcerer With Destructive Powers

  • First Appearance: Chapter 173 (Manga)

400 years ago, Ryu Ishigori was a formidable sorcerer who was reborn by Kenjaku to force him into the Culling Game. During a fierce skirmish involving Yuta Okkotsu and Takako Uro, he concurrently activated his Domain Expansion with them, but their unstable barriers negated each other.

Reflecting on the Culling Game’s unfolding events, I found myself left in awe as Ryu met his end at Sukuna’s hands. Alas, we never truly got to witness the full potential of his Domain Expansion, a spectacle that might have elevated his inherent cursed techniques such as Cursed Energy Dispatch and Granite Blast to unprecedented heights. Fans are left pondering the enigma: what could it have looked like, and how would it have transformed Ryu’s combat prowess?

Ryu primarily showcased immense raw strength, capable of firing bursts of focused cursed energy from his cannon-like pompadour. However, these blasts were generally easy to dodge as a key vulnerability. Thus, it was suggested that his undisclosed Domain Expansion could prove invaluable, particularly if it allowed him to strike anyone ensnared within it repeatedly with the immense force of his Granite Blast.

2 Takako Uro

A Member Of The Fujiwara Clan With A Mind-Bending Cursed Technique

  • First Appearance: Chapter 173 (Manga)

Takako Uro, much like another reincarnated sorcerer, took part in the Culling Games. Unfortunately, her domain expansion was destroyed when she attempted to use it simultaneously with Yuta and Ryu. It’s a pity, as Takako was a member of the esteemed Sun, Moon, and Stars Squad within the enigmatic Fujiwara Clan, making her quite intriguing.

Beyond this, Takako’s inherent, unusual cursed ability was one of the most imaginative in the series, famously referred to as Sky Manipulation. This power allows her to manipulate the atmosphere as if it were an object, enabling her to float, protect herself, and even strike opponents with a devastating attack called Thin Ice Breaker. Although Takako didn’t meet the same fate as Ryu Ishigori, she was never seen again following her unsuccessful attempt at using Domain Expansion. Given how peculiar yet distinctive her cursed ability is, it’s highly probable that her Domain Expansion would have been equally extraordinary, and moreover, it would have allowed her to use Thin Ice Breaker without ever missing a beat.

1 Yuki Tsukumo

A Domain Expansion With The Potential To Be On The Same Level As Gojo And Yuta’s

Unseen Domain Expansions With Huge Potential In Jujutsu Kaisen
  • First Appearance: Chapter 50 (Manga) Episode 20 (Anime)

In the realm of Jujutsu Kaisen, there’s no doubt that Yuki Tsukumo’s unrealized Domain Expansion stands as the most disheartening among all, for she was a top-tier special grade jujutsu sorcerer who never got to deploy her ultimate technique in the series. Although she demonstrated her ability to use Domain Expansion during her confrontation with Kenjaku, she met her untimely end at the hands of this very same antagonist, denying us a chance to witness her extraordinary skill.

Given that Gojo’s Unlimited Void and Yuta’s Authentic Mutual Love are two exceptionally potent and widely-used Domain Expansions in the series, it’s reasonable to expect that Yuki’s ability would have been included among them as well. However, its absence from the manga has left many fans feeling let down.

Yuki’s natural-born ability, known as Star Rage, increases the physical weight of herself and her personal spirit entity, Garuda, enhancing the power behind all her physical attacks. Additionally, her Domain Expansion skill could potentially augment her mass further, possibly even manipulating the gravity within the enclosed space, making it difficult for opponents to move. Many fans eagerly anticipate seeing Yuki use her Domain Expansion in future stories, especially if Gege Akutami continues creating tales set in this world.
