After years in development, the first-person survival shooter Road to Vostok, created by a single developer, will be available in early access this April. The game has already impressed many with its demos and continuous improvements, and is shaping up to be a standout title for fans of challenging shooters.
If you enjoy games such as Escape from Tarkov, Road to Vostok should appeal to you. Though it’s not exactly an ‘extraction shooter,’ it shares a similar look and feel, and takes place in a desolate, post-apocalyptic area along the Finnish-Russian border.
When is Road to Vostok Coming Out?
Road to Vostok is a challenging, single-player survival game created by Antti, a Finnish developer. He spent years building the game after serving in the military and teaching visual game design. It represents the culmination of his long-term passion project.
The game’s description on Steam—where you can add it to your wishlist to be notified when it’s available in early access—pretty much explains everything you need to know.
Road to Vostok is a challenging survival game where you play alone in a desolate area between Finland and Russia. You’ll need to find supplies, make plans, and get ready to cross the border into Vostok – a dangerous zone where a single error means game over, permanently.
Antti just released a new trailer for Road to Vostok, announcing the game will be available in early access on April 7, 2026. It will cost €14.99 at launch, with a 25% discount for the first two weeks – after that, the price will increase to €19.99.
We’ve followed the development of Road to Vostok for a long time, and we’ve consistently been impressed with the demos. It looks like a game fans of Escape from Tarkov will really enjoy – you can get a good feel for it in the new trailer.
Road to Vostok offers a lot of the same gameplay you’d find in first-person shooters, but it also includes features like a customizable hideout, diverse maps, in-game trading, and evolving dynamic events. It’s designed with fans of games like Tarkov in mind, featuring a similar ‘loot and shoot’ style of gameplay.
The game lets you customize both your weapons and your character. It also features dynamic weather, a full day-night cycle, and realistic survival elements – you’ll need to manage things like hunger, thirst, your inventory, and your health to stay alive.
I’m super excited to share that Road to Vostok is launching into early access on April 7th! If you can’t wait that long, I’ve been playing the demo on Steam and it’s awesome – you should definitely check it out right now to get a feel for the game.
