Build-a-Bear Reveals Quaxly Pokemon Plush

Build-a-Bear is partnering with Pokemon again, and this time they’re adding Quaxly, one of the starter Pokemon from the Scarlet and Violet games, to their collection. This completes the set of starter Pokemon from those games that you can create and customize at Build-a-Bear.

For ten years, Pokémon and Build-a-Bear have teamed up to create popular plush toys, starting with Pikachu in December 2015. Since then, many different Pokémon have become available at Build-a-Bear, most recently Ponyta, which was released in January. Now, another Pokémon is coming soon to join the collection!

Pokemon and Build-a-Bear Reveal Quaxly

Good news for Pokémon fans! You can now buy a Quaxly plush at Build-a-Bear Workshop. The adorable duckling Pokémon is available now for $59.50 on the Build-a-Bear website. Like other Build-a-Bear toys, Quaxly is a soft, seated plush that comes with fun accessories—including a removable orange and blue tank top and the Build-a-Bear logo on its foot. If you buy the Quaxly bundle online, it also includes an audio chip with five unique Pokémon sounds!

Good news for fans of both Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and Build-a-Bear! You can now complete your starter Pokemon collection with a plush of Quaxly, the Water-type Pokemon. Sprigatito was released as a Build-a-Bear in 2023, and Fuecoco followed in 2024. These aren’t the only Pokemon available, though – Build-a-Bear has also released plush versions of popular characters like Mimikyu, Mudkip, Charizard, and many others including Bidoof, Munchlax, Cubone, Riolu, Yamper, Wooloo, and Litten.

Quaxly is the most affordable of the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet starter plushies available at Build-a-Bear. Sprigatito costs $63 and is currently in stock, while Fuecoco is the priciest at $74.50. The price difference is likely due to Sprigatito and Fuecoco each coming with an audio chip and two outfits, whereas Quaxly only includes one outfit. Despite these prices, all three starter plushies are much cheaper than the larger Gengar and Charizard Build-a-Bear plushes, which both cost $149.00.

It’s a Pokemon Year Within and Beyond Build-a-Bear

The collaboration between Build-a-Bear and Pokemon has been very successful for both companies, lasting for ten years. We can expect even more Pokemon plushies to be released this year, possibly more than usual, because it’s the 30th anniversary of Pokemon. Celebrations are planned throughout the year, with major announcements expected on February 27th, Pokemon Day. Even though Build-a-Bear already offers over a thousand different Pokemon, there are still plenty of fan favorites they could create as plushies.

Details about the celebration of Pokemon‘s anniversary are still mostly secret, but we know a few new games are coming soon. Pokemon Pokopia should be released around Pokemon Day, and the first games from the next generation (currently believed to be called Pokemon Wind and Wave) will likely be revealed at least in part on that day as well. Leaks suggest these 2025 games will introduce exciting new features, including islands that are randomly created each time you play, all set in a region inspired by Southeast Asia. Several Pokemon are getting updated looks, and even Pikachu might receive a redesign. While these are just rumors for now, it looks like the next generation of Pokemon games will be quite different from what players are used to.
