Throughout the Dragon Ball series, the importance of human characters has shifted. While they originally played key roles as Goku’s friends, opponents, and teachers, they’ve gradually become less central as stronger characters like Saiyans and Namekians took the spotlight. However, the human characters still remain a remarkable and memorable part of the story.
Most people in the Dragon Ball universe see Mr. Satan as the strongest fighter, but the main human characters are actually quite exceptional. They can fly, have incredible strength, and shoot energy blasts. While they aren’t as powerful as the strongest beings in the series, their abilities are still remarkable.
Yamcha – Super Spirit Ball
Yamcha is often joked about, but he remains one of the most powerful humans in Dragon Ball. Although he hasn’t been a major player for a long time, there was a period where he was a valuable asset.
Yamcha’s most powerful technique is the Spirit Ball. While his Wolf Fang Fist is more famous, the Spirit Ball is a truly unique and impressive move he invented. It lets him create and control a sphere of energy using just his index and middle fingers. He hasn’t gotten to use it often, but it remains a very effective attack.
Chiaotzu – Super Dodon Blast
Chiaotzu is mostly known for being Tien’s partner. While he’s had a few moments – like his fight with Krillin in the World Martial Arts Tournament and his brave, though ultimately unsuccessful, attempt to defeat Nappa – his role in the series hasn’t been very significant. However, he’s still stronger and more skilled than most normal humans.
Chiaotzu is best known for his ability to move things with his mind, but he’s also skilled in the Dodon Ray, a technique taught by the Crane School. He can perform a much more powerful version called the Super Dodon Blast, which he uses against Krillin on orders from his old teacher.
Master Roshi -The Greatest Kamehameha
It’s easy to be distracted by Roshi’s perverted behavior, but he’s incredibly strong. He’s a highly skilled martial artist who trained Goku, Krillin, Yamcha, and others, and he was a top student of the legendary Master Mutaito.
The Kamehameha wave was first created by Master Roshi, but Goku has since mastered and significantly improved it, developing many powerful variations. Roshi had mostly watched from the sidelines until the Tournament of Power, where he got a chance to fight again. During the tournament, he unleashed his strongest attack yet – the Greatest Kamehameha, an even more powerful version of the MAX Power Kamehameha he used in the original Dragon Ball series.
Tien – Neo Tri-Beam
After switching sides from Shen’s follower to Goku’s friend, Tien appeared poised to become a major character. Although he wasn’t as prominently featured as Piccolo or Vegeta, he’s widely considered one of the most powerful humans in the series – possibly the strongest.
The Neo Tri-Beam is an upgraded version of Tien’s Tri-Beam attack. It almost succeeded in stopping Semi-Perfect Cell from absorbing Android 18. Tien pushed himself to his absolute limit, continuously firing the beam, but while it didn’t destroy Cell, it did manage to delay him.
Krillin – Destructo Disc Triple Blade
Fans often debate who the strongest human in the Dragon Ball universe is, and Krillin is a frequent contender. He’s often underestimated because of his size and playful personality, but he’s actually one of Earth’s most powerful fighters. While he’s skilled at the Kamehameha, his Destructo Disc is an even more devastating attack with greater potential.
The Destructo Disc Triple Blade is a more powerful version of Krillin’s Destructo Disc technique. While the original disc isn’t always accurate, it’s good at making opponents dodge and disrupting their attacks. This upgraded version is even more effective at both forcing enemies to move and creating openings for Krillin to land a solid hit.
Android 18 – Power Blitz
Android 17 and 18 are largely human, despite being created with machine parts by Dr. Gero. These enhancements simply make them physically stronger than ordinary people in the series. Android 18 is a particularly talented fighter who can quickly change the course of a battle, even if she doesn’t seem like a major threat at first.
Characters 17 and 18 both use a powerful attack called the Power Blitz throughout the series, though 18 relies on it more frequently. It’s essentially their most powerful energy wave attack, and each of them has unique ways of performing it.
Android 17 – Grand Explode
Android 17 was arguably the most valuable player in the Tournament of Power. While he wasn’t initially considered Universe 7’s strongest fighter, his ability to endure and stay focused ultimately made a huge difference.
Grand Explode is a powerful attack 17 uses against Jiren during their fight. He quickly closes the distance and tackles Jiren, then traps them both inside a protective energy barrier. He then unleashes a huge blast of energy, which hurts both himself and Jiren. Although 17 isn’t considered a top-tier fighter, this move proved he can still compete with incredibly strong opponents like Jiren.
