This article contains spoilers from One Piece’s Elbaf Arc.
The Elbaf arc in One Piece is moving quickly, and fans are excited to see the Straw Hat Pirates back in action. The recent flashback about Loki was the longest one in the series, keeping the Straw Hats off-screen for about seven months – the longest they’ve ever been absent. As a result, fans are particularly eager to see their favorite characters again, including the crew’s swordsman, Roronoa Zoro.
The Elbaf arc is already proving to be very promising for Zoro, with significant power increases planned for him. This arc will likely transform him into a truly elite fighter, potentially even reaching the level of a Yonko. It’s becoming clear that Zoro is on the verge of a major power-up, and he’ll push his abilities to the absolute limit in the coming chapters as he strives to match the strength of Dracule Mihawk.
Zoro Is On The Cusp Of Yonko Level in One Piece
- Zoro has already beaten the Yonko Commanders
- He has access to all three types of Haki
Zoro is currently a very strong fighter in One Piece. He received foundational Haki training from Mihawk during the timeskip, which significantly improved his abilities. However, Haki grows through combat experience, so Zoro needed to continue challenging and defeating stronger opponents to truly master it.

During the Wano Country arc, Zoro significantly increased his strength by obtaining the sword Enma. This sword unlocked hidden power within him, enabling him to wound Kaido and defeat King. While Zoro hasn’t become much stronger since then in the story, the upcoming Elbaf arc is expected to change that. In Elbaf, Zoro will be challenged to push past his current abilities and officially reach the level of a Yonko.
With One Piece now in its final arc, we’re expecting major progress for all the Straw Hat crew, including Zoro. He’s determined to become stronger than Dracule Mihawk, which requires reaching an incredibly high level of power – comparable to that of the Yonko, the most powerful pirates. Because of this, many fans believe Zoro will officially reach Yonko level during the upcoming Elbaf arc. The key to this power boost is expected to be mastering Conqueror’s Haki Infusion, a skill he currently doesn’t possess.
Zoro’s Haki Mastery Will Take Him To Yonko Level

- He must learn to bring out his Haki by himself
Before the Elbaf arc in One Piece, Zoro needed Enma’s help to use his Conqueror’s Haki, and he didn’t even realize he had this ability. This held him back in fights. After meeting Scopper Gaban, Zoro learned that Haki’s full potential comes from understanding and controlling it. This means Zoro wasn’t fighting at his best during his battles with King and Lucci.

As a huge Zoro fan, I truly believe he’s on the verge of becoming even stronger! I think mastering Conqueror’s Haki is the key, and I’m so excited because I have a feeling we’ll see him finally gain control of it in Elbaf. Once he does, get ready, because he’ll need that power to take on some seriously tough opponents – the Holy Knights and even those creepy demon slaves of Imu! This whole arc feels like it’s going to be huge for the entire Straw Hat crew, but I especially think we’ll see massive growth from Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji.
These three people are poised to become the next generation’s legendary figures, comparable to Roger, Rayleigh, and Gaban.
Elbaf Will Be The Biggest Test For Roronoa Zoro
Now that Zoro has gained new strength, he needs to test it against a powerful opponent. Once he fully controls his Conqueror’s Haki, he’ll likely face a challenging battle to prove his worth and reach the level of a Yonko.
- At the moment, two possibilities exist for Zoro’s enemies in the Elbaf Arc, and both are interesting match-ups. The first one is Saint Sommers, who is a very powerful swordsman belonging to the ranks of the Holy Knights. Sommers is quite skilled, both with a sword and with his Devil Fruit, Iba Iba no Mi. He also has the power of Imu’s Deep Sea Covenant, and that essentially means that he has received a superhuman buff in terms of strength, regeneration, and immortality. Somers cannot die unless Supreme King Haki is used repeatedly against him, as was clarified by Scopper Gabon. Zoro will need to muster out his strongest Haki and then control it perfectly in order to defeat him in battle.
- The other enemy for Zoro in this arc is someone even stronger than Sommers, and that is none other than Dorry of the Giant Warrior Pirates. As fans might remember, Dorry is the Co-Captain of the Giant Warrior crew, and his bounty is 1.8 billion berries. He is a monster who should be close to the level of a Yonko right now after being buffed up by Imu’s Domi Reversi. In order to defeat him, one would need incredibly powerful Conqueror’s Haki, and Zoro might be the one to step up to the occasion and cleanse him of Imu’s spell, as Sanji does the same to Brogy.
After Elbaf, Zoro Will Be Ready For Mihawk
- One Piece’s biggest sword fight is just on the horizon now
After the Elbaf arc finishes, Zoro will likely be as strong as, or very close to, the level of the Yonko – the most powerful pirates in the world. He’ll be able to confidently fight someone like Dracule Mihawk, and that’s when his ultimate challenge will begin. Following Elbaf, the story will enter its final stages, leading to a massive war. It’s during this war that Zoro and Mihawk will finally fight, giving Zoro the perfect opportunity to definitively surpass the world’s strongest swordsman.
I challenge you to grow stronger than me, Roronoa Zoro, and explore everything the world has to offer. I’ll be waiting for you when you reach the top. — Dracule Mihawk
Zoro is eager to test his newfound strength against Mihawk, hoping to unlock even greater abilities, like imbuing his swords with a dark energy. Fans are incredibly excited to see him reach his full potential, and it’s clear he’s destined to become a powerful figure rivaling the Yonko. Driven by a promise to his close friend, Zoro will push himself to overcome any obstacle and ultimately surpass even Dracule Mihawk.
