Terraria, a game often compared to Minecraft, has recently become very popular on Steam thanks to its latest update. Released on January 27th, the ‘Bigger and Boulder’ update has brought many players back to the game.
Terraria recently hit a peak of over 224,000 players on Steam, a number it hadn’t seen since May 2020 when a large update was released. Before that, the game reached 115,000 concurrent players in October 2022.
Terraria’s 1.4.5 Update is Making Waves
The recent Bigger and Boulder update feels like a celebration of Terraria’s 15th anniversary, as stated in the release notes for the 1.4.5 patch.

The recent Bigger and Bolder update for Terraria overhauled the crafting system, added new gameplay features, and made managing your items much easier.
Re-Logic introduced a new spectator mode, so when you die in multiplayer, you can watch other players while waiting to respawn. They’ve also made improvements to how housing works and is managed.
The Bigger and Boulder update includes a fantastic new world seed menu, letting you create even more unique and varied new worlds with powerful seed combinations.
As a fan, I’m so excited about all the new stuff! They’ve packed the game with tons of secrets to find, and it’s awesome they’re doing a crossover with Dead Cells! Plus, the Palworld collaboration looks really cool. They’ve added a bunch of new building blocks, and they’ve really worked on the atmosphere – almost all the sprites have been updated, which makes the whole game feel so much more vibrant!
