Dunjungle release date confirmed for this month

As a gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement upon hearing about Dunjungle, a new action roguelite from Astrolabe Games and Patapez Interactive. The games they’ve mentioned as inspirations – Dead Cells, Rogue Legacy, Hades, Skul – are all part of my gaming hall of fame, so the pedigree is undeniably strong.

According to Astrolabe Games, their action-packed roguelike game titled Dunjungle will be available on Steam’s Early Access platform starting October 22nd.

The creators at Patapez Interactive have shared that their upcoming game takes influence from popular Action Roguelites like Dead Cells, Rogue Legacy, Hades, and Skul. They emphasize that the studio’s primary focus is on delivering a game with seamless controls, an extensive array of options, a swift gameplay loop, and high replay value.

During Steam Next Fest, there will also be a live demonstration available. If the presentation appeals to you, feel free to check it out and give it a spin!

Speaking of the “look of it”, check out a trailer, below:

In simpler terms, “Dunjungle” is a fast-paced game with roguelike elements where you control an ape as he embarks on a dangerous journey through a jungle. This jungle is threatened by a malevolent force that’s turning the once peaceful inhabitants into monstrous versions of themselves and wreaking havoc everywhere it goes.

In each gameplay session, you’ll delve into diverse and shifting locales such as dungeons, temples, crypts, and other enigmatic sites, encountering an array of peculiar foes while amassing a variety of weapons, magical abilities, and artifacts. Each playthrough promises a unique adventure.

There’s a chance that not every being you encounter is aggressive! As you journey along, you may stumble upon others who are in distress, stuck, or simply relaxing. Lend them a hand, and you could forge new friendships!

(Spoiler: A lot of them are monkeys).

The team explains that the game doesn’t have any checkpoints, meaning if you perish, you begin anew. However, there are things to look forward to upon your next attempt. For instance, if you acquire a new weapon or spell, it will be at your disposal, and should you rescue a character stuck in peril, they will offer assistance.

Here’s some of the features:

  • Lots of weapons, spells and relics with unique effects.
  • Weapons and spells can also be merged with several elements, to create new and powerful versions.
  • Burn monsters with fire, use ice to slow them down, shock them with thunder, or just get them off you using wind to blow them away!
  • Dungeons are procedurally generated, made from big collection of hand-crafted rooms.
  • These rooms are filled with all sort of weird creatures, valuable treasures, dangerous traps, and of course, challenging bosses!

Dunjungle is coming to Steam early access on October 22nd.
