In Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO, over 180 characters can be played, but not all of them are accessible at first. Fortunately, as players reach a certain Player Level, they can buy the playable characters in Sparking! ZERO from the shop using Zeni. However, other ways to unlock the entire character roster also exist.
In Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO, the majority of playable characters can be accessed by defeating specific Episode battles or Bonus fights, which are located in the Custom Battles section. The remaining characters become available after finishing each tournament for the first time. An interesting aspect to note is that when you unlock the base form of a fighter, all their transformations will also be made accessible, so if you unlock Goku (GT), for example, players gain access to his base, Super Saiyan 1, Super Saiyan 3, and Super Saiyan 4 forms.
