When it comes to streaming, everyone wants to sound the best possible. With so many streaming/gaming microphones on the market, it can be difficult to choose which one is the best. Prices vary amongst many different microphones, making it overwhelming when attempting to choose the one you want. HyperX, known for its very many different gaming microphones, just dropped an all-new USB mic, the Quadcast 2 S.
Is the new HyperX microphone a wise investment, or simply another common streaming tool among numerous technological options?

Price: Is It Worth the Money?
When purchasing a $200 microphone, you should ask yourself whether or not the price is worth spending. For the Quadcast 2 S, though, I would say it most certainly is.
You can find several good quality XLR microphones priced around $100, however, you’d also need to budget approximately $100 for a cable and an interface. Alternatively, the HyperX Quadcast 2 S is a convenient all-in-one USB microphone. You can skip the extra costs of XLR cables and interfaces because it connects directly to your computer. Simply plug it in and start using it right away.
For those who are passionate about audio quality beyond streaming and gaming, you might want to consider investing in a higher-end mic like the Shure SM7B. On the other hand, if your needs are more budget-friendly, the HyperX Quadcast 2 S could be an appropriate choice for you.
Sound Quality
While assessing the audio clarity of this microphone, I opted to fire up Pro Tools and conduct some trials with it. To my delight, the experience was quite satisfying. Although XLR microphones typically offer superior quality compared to USB microphones, for streaming and gaming, the HyperX Quadcast 2 S delivers impressive sound.
It’s unlikely that you would utilize it for recording vocals for your upcoming rock anthem. Instead, its vibrant RGB lighting makes it a striking addition to your live stream setup, making it an ideal companion for your streaming sessions.
I’ll note that it leaned towards the pricier side, but you can effortlessly adjust it using the streaming apps or the complimentary HyperX software.

This microphone boasts a variety of useful functions, making it incredibly versatile. It includes a compact desk stand that can be easily detached if you prefer using a mic stand instead. Additionally, the microphone incorporates a built-in pop filter to minimize “P” noises during speech.
Want to quickly turn off your microphone during a call or meeting? Look for the large mute button usually located at the top of your microphone. You can simply click it on and off when needed.
This microphone is versatile enough to capture all primary sound patterns, which makes it an ideal choice for podcasting as well. In its omnidirectional setting, it records sounds from all directions, whereas when set to cardioid, it focuses on the sounds directly in front of it.
The microphone’s volume control knob is conveniently placed directly where speech occurs, allowing for quick adjustments whenever necessary. Even without extensive audio expertise, you can easily produce great sounds with this microphone.
As a gamer, my favorite feature has got to be its USB compatibility – this little detail makes the microphone incredibly user-friendly! All you’ve got to do is plug it into your computer, and voilà, you’re all set! Whether you’re using a desktop or laptop, the device should recognize it automatically, assigning it as your preferred microphone.
