As a seasoned adventurer of Throne and Liberty, I’ve tackled my fair share of quests, but none quite as intriguing as the Abyssal Contract. This side mission, nestled deep within the spider-infested Carmine Forest, is a delightful detour from the usual monster-slaying escapades.
In the role-playing game Throne and Liberty, one of the early Codex quests available to players is known as The Abyssal Contract. Unlike other quests in Carmine Forest that revolve around spider-like creatures, this particular mission centers on a haunted dungeon and its cursed inhabitants rather than the numerous arachnids that dwell there.
As a gamer, I found that the Abyssal Contract isn’t overly complex, but it can get a bit puzzling if you don’t know where its main goals are set. It’s somewhat like the Return of the Age of the Wolves quest in Throne and Liberty – once you understand what needs to be done and where to head, everything falls into place nicely. Here’s a breakdown on how to finish this side mission:
Throne and Liberty – Soul Arbiters, Circe, And The Abyssal Contract
Before going into further detail about this quest, here are all the steps needed to finish it:
- Speak with Rutaine in Carmine Forest.
- Find and defeat a Soul Arbiter in Carmine Forest.
- Follow the soul that appears.
- Defeat Circe.
- Speak with Rutaine again.
Soul Arbiter Location In Throne And Liberty
The most confusing parts of this quest are the locations of Soul Arbiters and Circe. You can find the former near the Carmine Forest waypoint. The game should highlight their potential locations on your map, but in case none are visible, refer to the map above. You should also be able to farm some Manasteel ores in this area as well.
It appears that Soul Wardens don’t show up often. If other adventurers are also completing this mission, it’s possible they’ve already defeated the Soul Wardens in the vicinity. In such situations, simply hold off for a bit until more of them appear.
Circe’s Location In Throne And Liberty
Once you vanquish the Soul Arbiter, a spirit emerges from its spectral remnants. Pursue it, and you’ll reach the entrance of Syleus’ Abyss. You will encounter Circe just prior to descending the stairs deeper into the dungeon. However, there’s a good possibility that she won’t be present when you arrive, as other players in the vicinity might have already engaged her. She isn’t particularly difficult to battle, but ensure your character is well-prepared with upgrades.
Getting Circe to spawn can be a little tricky. If she doesn’t spawn once the souls reach their destination, try touching the nearby waypoint. If she still doesn’t appear, going inside Syleus’ Abyss might trigger the right events. If neither of these work, then your best bet is to wait for someone else who’s doing the same quest. If you see another player following souls into the open dungeon, wait for them by the staircase’ edge, and check if Circe spawns for them.
