For gamers, nothing drains their wallets faster than a new LEGO set reveal – even more so than a new game console! And I’m sure you understand that feeling.
Over time, LEGO has created incredibly detailed and impressive sets inspired by video games. These sets are often quite expensive and become the highlight of any LEGO collection.
It’s easy to understand why we’re tempted to spend all our savings on something we want – after all, we earned it and feel like we deserve a treat.
Okay, seriously though, I’m not trying to encourage anyone to spend all their money on LEGO! But as a gamer who also loves LEGO, I was thinking it would be fun to look at the most expensive video game-themed LEGO sets out there – let’s check out the top 10!
These LEGO builds range in price from $80 to an impressive $650, and recreate everything from famous scenes to retro game consoles. They’re perfect for dedicated collectors willing to spend money on their hobbies! Let’s take a look at some of the most notable ones.
Okay, so when you see the prices here, they’re straight from LEGO’s website – no adjustments for how much things cost back when these sets first came out. I wanted to show a good range of sets, so I picked the most expensive one from each video game series we cover.
10. Sonic the Hedgehog: Green Hill Zone
$ 79.99
For three decades, Sonic the Hedgehog has been featured in all kinds of entertainment – video games, books, comics, TV shows, and movies. It’s great to see SEGA’s famous character finally join the world of LEGO!
There are a bunch of LEGO sets out now, but the most awesome – and definitely the priciest – one I’ve seen so far has to be the classic Green Hill Zone. Seriously, it’s so cool!
This set beautifully recreates the iconic first level from the original 1991 Sonic the Hedgehog game, originally released on the SEGA Genesis. It’s filled with impressive details and contains 1,125 pieces, including classic elements like golden Rings, TV monitor power-ups, all seven Chaos Emeralds, and even Dr. Eggman’s Egg Mobile.
The set features five figures – Sonic, Crabmeat, Moto Bug, Dr. Eggman, and the Phantom Ruby. Originally sold for $79.99, it’s now a discontinued item and a popular collectible.
9. Animal Crossing: Creative Houses: Seasons of Fun
$89.99
Of course, Animal Crossing was also included, as the game heavily focuses on customizing and building – much like the satisfying experience of building with LEGO, and there are already LEGO sets based on the game available.
You might be surprised to learn that the most expensive LEGO Animal Crossing set isn’t actually from Tom Nook! It’s the Creative Houses: Seasons of Fun set, which costs $89.99, even though many players think of Tom Nook as being obsessed with money in the games.
Even though the name doesn’t give much away, this set is fantastic! It includes 814 pieces and lets you build two different houses – you can even combine them to create a larger, two-story home. Plus, it comes with tons of furniture, accessories, little neighbor figures, and four different seasonal add-ons.
You can create a miniature, real-life version of an Animal Crossing house for your shelf or desk, and even pick what season it is! The best part? You won’t have to deal with neighbors constantly asking you to do favors!
8. Minecraft: The Enderman Tower
$99.99
Similar to other popular toys, it was inevitable that Minecraft would get the LEGO treatment. These sets are particularly dreaded by parents around the holidays, as they can be quite expensive when kids ask for them as gifts.
Interestingly, the most expensive LEGO Minecraft set is also the tallest ever created! Called “The Enderman Tower,” it stands 45cm tall and includes 867 pieces, plus four minifigures. The set’s main feature is a large, all-black LEGO Enderman figure.
What I find most exciting about this set is that you can build it in two completely different ways. You can create an Enderman Tower complete with a Nether portal, or you can build a fortress filled with exciting challenges and adventures.
LEGO calls this set “2 action-packed sets in 1,” and the price reflects that – it costs $99.99.
7. Mario Kart: Mario & Standard Kart
$169.99
I need to get this written down fast, before I impulsively spend all my money.
The Super Mario series has inspired lots of LEGO sets, but the Mario & Standard Kart set is a standout – it’s sure to delight Nintendo fans of all ages.
This building set takes inspiration from Mario Kart and is made up of an impressive 1,972 pieces. The finished model is quite large, measuring around 12.5 inches long, and includes a display stand so you can showcase Mario in a dynamic racing position.
Considering how large the set is and how many pieces it contains, the $169.99 price isn’t surprising, but I should probably stop looking at it before I buy it on impulse.
6. Atari 2600
$ 239.99
We’re now looking at detailed replicas, which is common for more advanced LEGO sets – just a heads-up! Coming in at number five is the Atari 2600 set, a beautifully built brick version of the iconic 1980 console.
Released to celebrate Atari’s 50th anniversary, this kit features copies of three classic games – Adventure, Asteroids, and Centipede. It also includes a special surprise: a miniature diorama recreating a typical 1980s gaming room, guaranteed to bring back fond memories for those who grew up in that era (and maybe make a few people feel a little older!).
With so many intricate details and a strong sense of nostalgia, this item was discontinued shortly after its original release price of $239.99. As a result, unopened copies are now quite rare and can be very expensive – potentially costing a significant amount of money.
5. Fortnite: Mecha Team Leader
$249.99
The newest and priciest LEGO set in a series is also the tallest ever – it’s the LEGO Mecha Team Leader, inspired by the game Fortnite!
This character, originally featured in the Battle Royale game and later available as a playable skin, is incredibly powerful. The LEGO version captures that strength, standing an impressive 45cm tall.
If you’ve been playing for a while, you might remember the Mecha Team Leader – that distinctive robot who saved the island in Chapter 1, Season 9. Its return is sure to bring back a lot of good memories for longtime players of Epic Games’ popular game.
This incredible set contains 2,503 pieces and fully posable arms, legs, feet, and head, letting you create dynamic displays. It also comes with the large Sword of Singularity and a smaller figure of the character, making it one of the most impressive Fortnite collectibles available for $249.99.
4. Pac-Man Arcade
$269.99
Taking fourth place is a classic Pac-Man arcade set. It’s sure to bring back fond memories for anyone who spent their allowance at the arcade in the 1980s, constantly wanting to play ‘just one more game’.
Although it looks just like a real arcade game, complete with a lit-up coin slot and even red bricks, this machine doesn’t actually play games. Instead, you can turn a small crank to mimic the experience of chasing ghosts in the classic game.
This set has 2,651 pieces and opens up to show a detailed arcade scene inside. You can also take off the back to see how it works.
One of the best parts is that the joystick physically moves, which really adds to the retro feel. And, like many nostalgic items, it costs $269.99.
3. Super Mario Nintendo Entertainment System
$269.99
I often describe this set as a special 2-in-1 tribute to the classic NES console and the original Super Mario Bros. game – a game that really defined a generation.
This kit is a perfect replica of the original console, complete with a controller and a Super Mario Bros. Game Pak that fits right in – and it looks as amazing as you’d imagine.

You can also create a vintage 1980s TV to go with the console. Turning a handle on the TV brings a simple, 8-bit Mario to life on the screen, letting him run and jump through a classic side-scrolling level – dodging pipes and defeating Goombas just like in the original game!
This incredible set, built from 2,646 pieces, is a real treat for longtime fans, bringing back fond memories. It originally sold for $269.99, but since it’s no longer made, finding one now will likely cost you more.
2. The Legend of Zelda: Great Deku Tree
$299.99
The LEGO Legend of Zelda set was highly anticipated, and it definitely lived up to the hype! It’s so incredible that many fans feel like they can’t live without it in their homes.
Putting the fun aside, this 2,500-piece kit is fantastic because it lets you build two different scenes. What I really love is that it’s a sweet nod to both Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild all in one set.
The Ocarina rendition perfectly recreates the feeling of entering the game’s first dungeon. You’ll see Link with his Ocarina, a couple of scary Deku Babas, the adorable little sprout, and even a hidden Skulltula tucked away in the background.
The Breath of the Wild game shows Link and Zelda using the Sheikah Slate, with beautiful pink cherry blossoms on the trees, and, as you might expect, lots of hidden Koroks scattered throughout the world.
This set is a dream for Zelda fans, featuring four exclusive minifigures and the chance to recreate scenes from different games. Even with a price of $299.99, it’s considered worth it.
1. Pokémon: Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise
$649.99
And now, the most expensive LEGO set ever! The LEGO Pokémon set with the final evolved forms of the original Kanto starters boasts an incredible 6,838 pieces and comes with a hefty price tag of $649.99 – it’s not even a contest for the top spot!
This massive set includes 6,838 pieces and features detailed, poseable figures of Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise. The figures are impressively sized, standing at 9, 8, and 7 inches tall respectively.
Every Pokémon figure has movable parts, so you can pose them – even bend Venusaur’s vines and move Blastoise’s water cannons, which is something fans have always wanted! Plus, the set includes a secret surprise only buyers will be able to discover.
What I love most is the versatility – you can show all the pieces together or display them individually. It’s like getting four decorations in one, so you can easily update your home whenever you want. It’s a fantastic deal… if you have the money for it!
