AdHoc Working With Nintendo After Dispatch Censorship Controversy

AdHoc reports they are collaborating with Nintendo to resolve issues after a modified version of their game, Dispatch, was released on the Nintendo Switch 2.

Dispatch is an interactive story-driven video game where you play as a superhero and your decisions change the plot. It came out on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC in late 2025 and was immediately praised by critics and players alike.

Dispatch was eventually released on the Nintendo Switch 2, but Nintendo chose to censor the game permanently instead of offering options to filter mature language and content for players.

Nintendo’s Response and AdHoc’s Current Stance

When players reacted negatively, AdHoc explained that submission requirements vary between platforms. They also confirmed they collaborated with Nintendo to meet all release standards and that the main story and gameplay were still intact.

Nintendo confirmed that they let their partners know if a game doesn’t follow their rules, but they don’t alter the games themselves.

AdHoc recently mentioned in a Discord message that they, like many other players, initially believed Nintendo Switch allowed access to mature content without restrictions, as games like The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, which feature such content, are available on the console.

So, the team’s still working with Nintendo to figure things out. They’re asking us to double-check our shipping addresses just in case. And heads up, some of the stuff that got changed is going to take a while to fix – we’re talking weeks, because of how long development and getting updates approved by Nintendo takes.

Honestly, I totally get why everyone’s frustrated. We definitely messed up, and we’re taking a hard look at what went wrong. I really appreciate you all being patient with us while we figure things out. We’ll have more updates soon.

Are you holding off on playing Dispatch on Nintendo Switch until these issues are fixed, or are you enjoying it on a different device? Let us know what you think on our Discord server! Plus, be sure to subscribe to our weekly newsletter for updates.
