Ice skating is coming to Heartopia as part of the Winter Frost Season event! Starting January 31st, all players can enjoy skating around the new ice rink as much as they want.
We’re here to help you get started with ice skating in Heartopia! We’ll cover the basics of regular skating and the fun challenges available, plus explain how to earn Dream rewards and skate with friends.
How to Unlock Ice Skating in Heartopia
Ice Skating is now available as part of the Winter Frost Season event! When you next log in to Heartopia, you’ll receive a call from Atara. Answer the call to be transported to the Ice Rink, located on the beach near the Onsen Mountains, and you’ll be able to start Ice Skating.
Everyone can ice skate, but you’ll need to reach level 16 in the Dream app before you can try the Ice Skating Challenges. These challenges require the app to work.
How to Ice Skate in Heartopia
Once you’re on the ice, you’ll be asked if you want to begin skating. Tap the blue checkmark to get started.
Okay, so when I’m skating around on the ice, my character just naturally glides, which is awesome. But the real fun starts with the buttons on the right side of the screen – that’s how I pull off tricks! They actually change depending on what’s happening, but when I first started playing, I could do a few basic moves right away.
- Kicking your foot out and spinning.
- Performing a spinning leap.
- Getting low to the ground.
- Twirling while making arm movements.
Finishing ice skating challenges lets you advance faster in your Ice Skating Dream. You’ll improve your existing moves and unlock new ones as you progress.
Landing several moves one after another builds up Combo Energy, letting you pull off more complex actions. The fastest way to fill this energy bar and create an impressive performance is to connect your moves smoothly. As you perform a move, you’ll see a glow around your character. Start a new move the instant the glow turns gold to maximize your Combo Energy and deliver a fantastic performance.
The combo move will change every time you start a new move, just like regular moves.
How to Complete Ice Skating Challenges in Heartopia

You can begin Ice Skating Challenges when you reach DG Level 16. To start, go to the Ice Rink and click the Ice Skating Challenge button in the upper right corner. You’ll first see a quick tutorial, then a screen showing the time limit, target score, and number of attempts you have left. Press Start to begin the challenge.
As a player, I’ve found that you get extra points in challenges by nailing what they call ‘perfect transitions’ – basically, starting a new move right when your character is glowing gold. And it’s awesome because doing moves you haven’t used yet also gives you bonus points! The challenge ends when you hit the target score, or time runs out, so you really need to mix things up and keep the momentum going.
You get two tries at the Ice Skating Challenge each day. If you don’t use both attempts one day, they’ll roll over to the next, but you can save a maximum of 10. Don’t worry about wasting attempts – failing doesn’t use up one of your daily tries, so you can keep practicing until you win!
How to Change Your Ice Skates in Heartopia

You can’t fully dress your character for ice skating, but you can change their skates! Open the Dress-Up app on your smartwatch. Tap the sparkling closet icon in the upper left corner to find your pajamas and the Ice Skating Set.
To see all the ice skates you have, click the “ice skating set” tab. Choose the skates you want to use, then click the “save Ice Skating Set outfit” button in the bottom right corner. Your chosen skates will automatically be equipped the next time you go to the ice rink.
How to Ice Skate With Friends in Heartopia

Ice skating is a fun activity to enjoy with friends in Heartopia. To skate together, players need to hold hands before entering the rink. Once linked, if one person starts ice skating, it automatically begins for both of them. They’ll also move and perform the same actions simultaneously, including special combo moves.
Whoever starts holding hands gets to lead the ice skating. They’ll guide their friends around the rink and decide what skating moves they’ll try together.
If both friends have unlocked challenge mode, they can perform together in challenges as well.
All Ice Skating Dream Rewards in Heartopia
I’m really excited about the Ice Skating dream! Not only do you unlock cool new moves and see your dream progress as you complete the challenges, but you also get some awesome rewards. I’ve been collecting gold, ice skates, and even Wishing Stars just by skating – it’s a great way to boost everything!
