Sword of the Sea took home the award at the 2026 Grammys, surpassing popular games like Star Wars Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
Okay, so the Grammys happened last night, and they finally revealed who won Song, Record, and Album of the Year, plus a bunch of other stuff. As a gamer, I was mostly checking out the Video Game category, and honestly, one game totally blew everything else away. It was a clear winner!
Sword of the Sea Wins Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games
Austin Wintory, composer for Sword of the Sea, won the award for best video game soundtrack at last night’s event. He was nominated alongside Pinar Toprak (Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora), Wilbert Roget II (Helldivers 2), Gordy Haab (Indiana Jones and the Great Circle), and Cody Matthew Johnson & Wilbert Roget II (Star Wars Outlaws).
Huge congrats to @awintory for winning the GRAMMY for Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media! And remember, you can stream all the music from Sword of the Sea on any platform without worrying about copyright issues.

Sword of the Sea is a captivating surfing adventure game created by Giant Squid Games. You take on the role of Wraith, who uses a special hoverboard-like sword to perform tricks inspired by snowboarding, skateboarding, and surfing. Players will glide across both water and sand waves, tackling halfpipes, ramps, and wall rides in a stunningly beautiful world. The game features a breathtaking contrast between the ocean’s life and the desolate desert landscape, all set to a soundtrack that has won a Grammy Award.
Here’s some gaming news: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has now won more Game of the Year awards than Elden Ring. Also, Highguard was originally planned for a surprise release before its Game Awards 2025 showcase. What did you think of Sword of the Sea winning at the Grammy Awards in 2026?
