Yuji Itadori is a remarkably talented sorcerer in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen. He’s grown from a physically gifted teenager into a skilled jujutsu user, particularly evident in his fights against Sukuna. A key ability for Yuji is the Black Flash, and while he couldn’t consistently perform it before, he’s significantly improved and now demonstrates a much greater mastery of the technique.
Taking place 68 years after the original Jujutsu Kaisen story ends, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo reveals that Yuji Itadori has completely perfected the Black Flash technique. He can now use it whenever he wants, making him the most powerful sorcerer ever seen.
This article contains spoilers from Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo.
What Is A Black Flash In Jujutsu Kaisen?
A Space Distortion Due To The Precise Cursed Energy Control
To understand how Yuji learned to consistently land Black Flash, it’s important to first understand what it actually is. Simply put, a Black Flash is a significantly boosted physical attack. But it’s not just a slightly stronger hit – it’s a distortion in space that happens when cursed energy connects with a target an incredibly small fraction of a second after impact. This distortion massively increases the attack’s power. The story clarifies that Black Flash multiplies the original strength of a hit by 2.5 times, and that’s the core of this ability.
The sparks of black don’t choose whom they bless. — Aoi Todo, Jujutsu Kaisen
Black Flashes are incredibly powerful in Jujutsu Kaisen, but it’s important to remember that no sorcerer can consistently land a hit on someone using them. There are several reasons for this difficulty:
- A black flash requires a tremendous amount of concentration, and even a person’s physical condition comes into play when making use of this technique.
- To truly utilize a Black Flash properly, an individual must be blessed with the sparks of black, which might seem almost random at times.
- According to Gojo, Black Flashes are so random that even things like temperature and humidity can play a huge role in whether one can land this power or not.
Ultimately, the ability to control cursed energy depends on a person’s energy levels and focus. As suggested in JJK Modulo 20, Yuji Itadori is unique in his ability to use it freely, while everyone else struggles with these limitations.
How Yuji Itadori Mastered The Black Flash
Yuji Has Years Of Fighting Experience in Modulo
Image by Manga Plus Yuji Itadori is known for frequently using Black Flashes in Jujutsu Kaisen, and he impressively landed over eight during his fight with Ryomen Sukuna – a surprising feat for viewers. The author has mentioned that Yuji possesses a natural talent for these flashes, potentially explaining his ease in performing them. This ability is also likely connected to his unique physiology as a partial curse, a result of Kenjaku’s influence.
You’re pretty strong. You won’t die from this. — Yuji Itadori, JJK Modulo 20
As a huge Jujutsu Kaisen fan, it’s no surprise to me that Yuji was the first to consistently land Black Flashes! After maintaining such a high level of power for so long, it just makes sense. We saw it happen so clearly in JJK Modulo Chapter 20 – Yuji actually hit a Simurian with a Black Flash, proving he can trigger it whenever he needs to. It was awesome!
Yuji’s ability to develop this skill stems from his incredible potential. He was uniquely born through Kenjaku’s design, setting him apart from others. Sukuna noted Yuji’s physical abilities were comparable to Maki’s, though she had a slight edge. Furthermore, Yuji carries Sukuna’s cursed technique within him, and Uraume believes his potential rivals Ryomen Sukuna himself. It’s also important to remember that Yuji gained the power of Blood Manipulation after absorbing the Death Painting’s 4-9.
Considering his incredible skills and the fact that he didn’t age, it’s understandable how Yuji was able to train so intensely and become the first sorcerer to accomplish everything effortlessly.
Yuji Can Hit Black Flashes At Will By Adulthood
By the time of the JJK Modulo arc, Yuji Itadori is consistently able to use Black Flash. While the exact reason isn’t clear, it’s likely due to his deep understanding of Jujutsu sorcery – he’s learned enough of its secrets to consistently activate this powerful technique.
Old warriors don’t die. They just fade away from existence. — Yuji Itadori
Interestingly, Gojo Satoru suggests he’s capable of learning Black Flash, but his fighting style makes it difficult. He usually wins battles so quickly with his Limitless ability that he doesn’t get the chance to properly master and control Black Flash.
Chaining Black Flashes requires landing several consecutive hits, meaning Gojo would need to fight a truly powerful opponent to even attempt it. However, Gojo is so overwhelmingly strong that even a single Black Flash usually defeats his enemies. He never had the opportunity to practice this technique against a worthy adversary. While he did manage to chain four Black Flashes against Sukuna before using Hollow Purple, it was right before his death, preventing him from ever fully mastering the ability.
Adult Yuji Itadori Is The Strongest Sorcerer Of All Time
Yuji Itadori Has Surpassed Gojo And Sukuna
Image by Manga Plus Taking into consideration all the powers that Yuji Itadori has right now, that is:
- The ability to utilize the power of Black Flash at will
- Two powerful cursed techniques in Blood Manipulation and Shrine
- An unaging body that stays at its peak all the time
Honestly, I think Yuji Itadori is shaping up to be the most powerful sorcerer we’ve ever seen! It’s not even a huge leap to say he’s surpassing both Gojo and Sukuna in terms of sheer ability, making him the strongest character in the series, hands down. I’m so hyped to see his full potential unleashed when he finally fights Dabura Karaba – I have a feeling Gege Akutami is about to blow us all away!
