Resident Evil Requiem Live-Action Trailer Is As Tragic As It Is Terrifying

The new trailer for Resident Evil: Requiem is out now, and it’s both terrifying and emotionally powerful.

Resident Evil Requiem will be available on February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. While we’ve already seen several trailers showing gameplay and story details, Capcom has one final surprise: a live-action trailer starring Maika Monroe.

Resident Evil Requiem Live-Action Trailer Leans Into Sadness, Dread, and Horror

Capcom is promoting the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem with a new campaign, leading fans to a live-action trailer. They’ve released a red poster with the tagline “Evil Has Always Had a Name” and a QR code. Scanning the code takes you to the trailer, which stars Maika Monroe, known for her work in the film Longlegs. While the trailer hints at the story of Grace and Alyssa, it doesn’t confirm if that’s exactly what it depicts.

The latest trailer is both heartbreaking and terrifying, focusing on the relationship between a mother and daughter that ultimately meets a grim fate. It opens with them happily living in Raccoon City, but their lives are turned upside down when a deadly outbreak begins. The trailer then shows the chaos as they struggle to survive, battling through hordes of zombies, explosions, and panicked crowds. The ending is deeply tragic and best experienced firsthand – you can watch the trailer below.

In a recent interview, Monroe shared what they enjoyed about the project, saying it was deeply emotional and told a heartbreaking story in a fresh way, especially considering it was based on a video game. The Lo added that the project felt very nostalgic, particularly because it returned to the original setting of Raccoon City from the 1990s. They were also excited to see the zombie visuals, knowing they would eventually get to play a zombie themselves.

The director of the upcoming Resident Evil movie, Requiem, recently discussed Leon Kennedy’s intense rage. Also, Nakanishi shared more details about what the PlayStation 5 Pro version will offer.
