Ubisoft Employee Who Was Suspended For Criticising the Company Has Now Been Fired

The Ubisoft employee who was previously suspended for three days after publicly criticizing the company has now been fired.

David Michaud-Cromp, a Ubisoft employee of over 13 years, announced on social media that he had been suspended. The reason given was his public statements about the company’s policy requiring employees to return to the office, which Ubisoft claimed violated his duty of loyalty to the company.

TopMob reached out to Ubisoft for a statement regarding our reporting on Michaud-Cromp’s suspension, but Ubisoft declined to comment, simply confirming they were offered the chance to do so.

After we reported on the situation, screenshots of comments made by Michaud-Cromp on Ubisoft’s internal platform, Agora, were shared with TopMob. This helped explain the reasons behind both his suspension and, ultimately, his firing.

Michaud-Cromp voiced strong criticism of Ubisoft’s return-to-office policies, studio closures, and its focus on Games as a Service, which he described as consistently causing problems. He also questioned the appointment of Charlie Guillemot – son of Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot – to lead Vantage Studios, pointing out his limited experience primarily consisting of work on Unagi games.

He explained that employees are the ones suffering because of poor choices made by company leaders, who continue to earn large sums of money. He believes cost-cutting is necessary, but it should begin with executives; otherwise, things won’t improve.

I believe everyone at Ubisoft, both our team and those working with us, agrees with this idea, though we might have been a bit too open about it.

Ubisoft has fired Michaud-Cromp, determining he is no longer a good fit for the company.
