The new LEGO Pokémon sets are incredibly popular and immediately sold out after release. One fan was even inspired to rebuild the most sought-after set, which is currently unavailable for most people. The large Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise set, along with the Kanto Gym Badges gift set, sold out within 24 hours of being announced and available for pre-order. While LEGO hasn’t announced details on restocking, both sets are expected to be available again on February 27th.
Okay, so it totally makes sense why LEGO and Pokémon are teaming up again – it’s Pokémon Day 2026! That marks 30 years since the original Pokémon Red and Green came out in Japan way back in ’96. While we’re getting new LEGO Pokémon sets, nobody knows exactly how many they’ll make at first, or if the awesome Kanto Gym Badges set will come back. Most of us fans don’t think it will, and even when it was available, you could only get it if you bought the big Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise set – it wasn’t sold on its own. Because of that, one dedicated fan decided to rebuild the Gym Badges set themselves using different LEGO bricks, which is pretty cool!
Here’s How to Make Your Own LEGO Pokemon Kanto Gym Badges Set
A Reddit user named pheob0 recently shared their amazing LEGO creation on the LEGO subreddit, and it quickly gained thousands of upvotes. They rebuilt the Kanto Gym Badges set, which is no longer sold, with impressive accuracy. While not a perfect replica – the storage box is red instead of blue, and some badge details differ due to brick availability – it’s a fantastic build. It’s a great project for LEGO fans to tackle before new Pokémon LEGO sets are released.
You can find the Kanto Gym Badge Collection set for sale on sites like eBay, but be aware that it’s very expensive and won’t be shipped to buyers until February 27th.
Building this incredible LEGO creation wasn’t simple, and it took a lot of work. However, pheob0 has now shared instructions and a parts list, allowing anyone to build their own Kanto Gym Badge Collection. This makes it easier for both new and experienced LEGO builders to enjoy the design and may lessen the need to find it elsewhere.
How LEGO Fans Are Remaking Pokemon’s Sold-Out Set
Image via LEGO You can definitely customize the original design created by pheob0, and some users online have already shared their own versions. A frequent adjustment is the placement of the badges, since pheob0’s arrangement doesn’t match the order you actually earn them in the original Pokémon Red and Blue games or their remakes. The correct order is:
- Boulder Badge: Obtained from Brock
- Cascade Badge: Obtained from Misty
- Thunder Badge: Obtained from Lt. Surge
- Rainbow Badge: Obtained from Erika
- Soul Badge: Obtained from Koga
- Marsh Badge: Obtained from Sabrina
- Volcano Badge: Obtained from Blaine
- Earth Badge: Obtained from Giovanni
I saw this awesome thing a fan named No_Inevitable_3325 did – they recreated the Kanto Gym Badge set using the same colors as the original LEGO version, and even shared a link to their build instructions! That’s what I love about LEGO, honestly. Being able to take the bricks I already have and build something completely new, or just change up existing sets, is so cool. If you’re still hoping to find the official Kanto Gym Badge set, it might be a long wait with no promises. But knowing I can build it myself using pieces I have already definitely takes the edge off!
