Despite potentially starting a fresh series, ReFantazio remains mindful of its origins.

Much like the Masked Dancer character embodies elements from the Persona franchise, the Summoner character holds great respect for the original series that paved the way, Shin Megami Tensei.

As a fellow gamer, if you’re intrigued by those mysterious hints or eager to unleash one of the most formidable spell-casting characters, let’s delve together into the steps to unlock the Summoner Archetype in the captivating world of Metaphor: ReFantazio.

Prerequisites for Unlocking the Summoner Archetype

As a dedicated fan, I find myself drawn to the intrigue of the Summoner Archetype, reminiscent of Junah’s Masked Dancer counterpart. Unlike other characters, this one starts off restricted exclusively to Eupha, and yet, it’s an elective addition, even though she is a valued party member.

Unlocking Archetype abilities linked to your party members means you can skip using Virtue points (initially), as those points won’t be required during the early levels of ranking.

You’ll be able to initiate the procedure for accessing the Summoner Archetype no sooner than you’ve conquered the Dragon Temple, which is considered one of the most challenging dungeons within the game “Metaphor: ReFantazio”.

Following the scenes at the Dragon Temple, you will once again take charge of the main character, standing right outside the Virga Island Inn, now located within the village of Eht Ria.

Nearby, you’ll find Eupha, standing by a well, clearly indicated with a quest symbol. Interacting with her will start the “Trial of Malnova” quest and open up the “Land of Ceremony” region for exploration.

How to Prepare for the Land of Ceremony

It’s advisable to have a chat with the informant when you enter a new dungeon, as their advice can be helpful, although it may not always be plentiful.

However, let’s delve into providing you with comprehensive guidance about readying yourself for the Land of Ceremony, commencing with an innovative gameplay feature.

Edeni clarifies that he possesses the ability to forecast weather patterns, and under certain circumstances, he can manipulate the local climate – albeit at a cost.

Initially, there’s no cost for usage, and it’s advisable to modify the climate within the Realm of Ceremonies as the dungeon perpetually remains warm. Altering the atmosphere in this way prevents the team from gaining additional turns when they capitalize on foe vulnerabilities.

In the future, employing Edeni’s power will require either consuming the Almighty Golden Stew or twenty Marbled Bluefin Tuna, which we can address later on.

Thanks to Edeni’s assistance, the climate in the Ceremonial Land will transition to Clear, greatly facilitating your adventure across the dungeon and its encounters.

Upon reaching the Land of Ceremony, Gallica will identify a significant artifact, which plays a crucial role in boosting your standing among the Neuras and enhancing the Gunner Character Type.

The Land of Ceremony is populated by two main types of fodder enemies:

  • Skeletons: Weak to Strike attacks and Light element but resistant to Slash and Pierce, so a Pugilist or Healer is essential.
  • Leogryph: A strong enemy weak to Pierce skills that reflects Wind and resists Light. If you have allies in the front row, the griffin will get enraged, gain extra turns, and perform area attacks, so it’s recommended to keep everyone in the back row.

Additionally, there are some adversaries that resemble pots, however, they tend to explode on their own when you explore, making direct combat with them uncommon.

Investigating the Realm of Ritual is simple, much like many additional labyrinths, yet what sets it apart is its abundance of Transcendent Crystals.

These are crystal formations resembling flowers, which continually conjure monsters unless they’re destroyed. A strategic approach would be employing an Archetype, such as the Gunner or the Faker, that boasts a long-range capability.

It’s advisable to shatter the Trance Crystals immediately, as doing so will eradicate all other adversaries and grant you a substantial amount of experience points.

Once you’ve cleaned up the surroundings and conducted an exploration, you’ll eventually stumble upon the door that leads to the boss. This door is identifiable due to the proximity of the save point feline.

How to Prepare for the Homo Pento Boss Fight

In just the same way as Junah was essential to the fight against the Kokasadors on Orbwise Path, it is crucial that Eupha lends her strength in the struggle against Homo Pento – for the sake of the boss’s hardship.

As Homo Pento lacks resistance to fire, and given that Eupha is likely to be the Summoner, it would be advantageous for her to possess the ability to summon the Dragon God, a potent area synthesis spell with a strong fire component.

During the initial round, the boss may call forth a skeleton which can either restore its health or boost its power. Subsequently, Homo Pento employs wind-based magic. To secure a quick and resounding triumph, we advise assembling a team with an emphasis on characters specializing in fire magic. Our party comprised of:

  • Eupha as Summoner to cast Summon Dragon God with Synthesis, exploiting the boss’s weakness and removing any buffs it receives. Gargoyle is another solid single-target option if you’ve already crafted it.
  • A Wizard to repeteadly cast Botra, dealing damage and granting extra turns to the party while supporting the Summon Dragon God spell.
  • Alternatively, a Masked Dancer, since the Archetype can also be a duo for Summon Dragon God and has an early fire spell.
  • A Knight can unleash Power Thrust to lower the boss’s defense or target the summoned skeletons’ weaknesses.

In addition, we utilized the “Flame Vanguard” capability belonging to our Commander Archetype instead of the “Magic Seeker,” taking advantage of the boss’s vulnerability to fire.

Generally speaking, battling Homo Pento, much like many bosses in ReFantazio Metaphor, follows a simple strategy. Initially, concentrate on defeating the main opponent before managing the minor foes.

The ability to summon a Divine Dragon is crucial since it’s an area-effect spell that targets not only the main enemy but also their allies. This feature provides additional turns, enabling you to capitalize on vulnerabilities more effectively.

Rewards for Defeating Homo Pento

As the peculiar human foe is vanquished, you’ll reap the typical rewards – experience points, MAG, and coins, just like any other victory!

Additionally, you could potentially receive artifacts similar to Talismans for creating new Summons, or even a Scarce Summoner’s Crozier, a scarcely found weapon for Summoners.

Once the boss is vanquished, Eupha will initiate what can be regarded as her first sincere conversation. By the end of this exchange, you’ll establish a fresh alliance with her, granting access to have Eupha join your party and formally open the Summoner Archetype.
