In the medieval combat game Half Sword, it’s usually better to make your opponents surrender rather than kill them. If your character is close to defeat, you’ll have to fight off zombies – and if you lose that fight, you’ll lose all your progress. The number of zombies you face will be equal to the number of opponents you’ve killed, so killing increases your risk. Luckily, Half Sword now has a new taunt feature in addition to the existing surrender option, giving you another way to avoid a deadly zombie encounter.
How To Taunt In Half Sword
In Half Sword, you can now taunt your opponent by pressing the ‘G’ key. Your character will shout an insult, like calling them a ragamuffin. Wearing a helmet will make the taunt less audible.
This taunt isn’t very effective on its own. But if you’ve already hurt an enemy or knocked them down and then taunt them, they might give up. It’s not certain, but being well-armored or having a higher rank could also increase the chance of them surrendering. Also, different enemies seem to have different personalities and levels of aggression, which probably affects how likely they are to yield.
How To Make Enemies Surrender In Half Sword
In Half Sword, you don’t always need to taunt to make enemies give up. Often, just dealing enough damage will cause them to surrender. However, hitting too hard or accidentally striking a vital spot can kill them instead. That’s why using blunt weapons is usually a better choice than sharp ones.
The game also features simpler modes, like Circle, where you win by pushing your opponent outside a designated area, or Knock Down, where getting them to fall is all it takes.
Hold Your Weapon To Their Neck
A far better approach is to knock your opponent down and then press your weapon against their throat. Usually, they’ll give up right away, since they’ll be in a very defenseless position.
To aim, slowly move your mouse downwards, and your weapon will follow, aligning with the enemy’s neck.
Pin Them Down & Use Grappling Techniques
Mastering the grabbing mechanics in Half Sword – using the Q and E keys – is quite challenging, but once learned, they’re a powerful way to make your opponent give up.
Opponents frequently surrender when they’re held firmly on the ground, have an arm immobilized, or are completely lifted off their feet.
Choke Opponents
You can also defeat opponents by grabbing their throats with the Q or E abilities. They will eventually surrender or lose consciousness.
