5 Pokemon WAY Stronger Than Ash’s Pikachu

Pikachu, the main Pokémon in the original anime series, is remarkably lucky, much like many classic heroes. Despite being a relatively weak Pokémon – he hasn’t evolved and isn’t a rare or legendary type – Pikachu and his trainer, Ash, consistently win battles, often against much stronger opponents they shouldn’t be able to defeat.

Some Pokémon are incredibly powerful, so even Pikachu would struggle to win against them. These Pokémon are often Legendary or Mythical, and possess abilities capable of reshaping – or even destroying – the world.

The Illusory Entei Went Against Its Creators

Entei Proved To Be a Challenge for Ash’s Pokémon

The movie Pokémon 3 begins with Professor Hale researching the enigmatic Unown Pokémon while raising his daughter, Molly, alone after her mother’s unexpected disappearance. While exploring ancient ruins connected to the Unown, Professor Hale is pulled into another dimension. Heartbroken and missing both parents, Molly discovers her father’s research and unintentionally calls forth a group of Unown. These Pokémon then create a powerful Entei, hoping to give Molly a father figure to fill the void left by her missing parents.

Molly feels lonely and wishes she had a mother, so Entei, noticing her envy of Ash’s close relationship with his mom, Delia, takes her to a special palace. This means Ash and his friends have to journey through a world Molly and mysterious creatures called Unown have built, hoping to rescue Delia and learn more about why Molly is so unhappy. While they’re trying to save her, Ash’s Pokémon, including even his usually disobedient Charizard, are forced to fight a powerful Entei created by the Unown. The battle is incredibly tough, and Entei even turns against those who made it, proving just how strong it is – strong enough to easily defeat Pikachu.

Giratina Is Imprisoned in the Distortion World

Team Galactic Once Tried To Use This Pokémon’s Powers

Long ago, Arceus, the being who created the Pokémon universe, brought legendary Pokémon to life. One of these, Giratina, was exiled to a bizarre realm called the Distortion World because of its actions. While trapped in this constantly shifting dimension, Giratina can still watch what happens in the normal world. There are stories of Giratina being called back from its prison into the main Pokémon world, though these events are rare.

Besides appearing in the movie Pokémon: Giratina and the Sky Warrior, the Renegade Pokémon also featured in the Pokémon Generations episode “The New World.” This episode retold the story of Pokémon Platinum, including Cyrus’s attempt to use Giratina to destroy the world and build a new, ideal one. However, Giratina didn’t allow Cyrus to see his plan come to fruition, instead trapping him within the Distortion World. Giratina itself remains one of the most enigmatic Pokémon, a being made of antimatter whose immense power and true nature are difficult to comprehend.

Rayquaza Is the Only Pokemon Who Can Defeat Kyogre and Groudon

This Super-Ancient Pokémon Can Mega Evolve

Kyogre and Groudon are usually peaceful Pokémon, but they become incredibly hostile when they encounter each other. Their conflict is an ancient rivalry that once nearly devastated the Hoenn region. Fortunately, Rayquaza, a powerful Dragon/Flying-type Pokémon, intervened and saved the world from their destructive battle.

In Pokémon Emerald, and related anime and manga stories, Team Magma and Team Aqua awaken Groudon and Kyogre, causing a devastating fight between these ancient Pokémon. Fortunately, the heroes of the Hoenn region manage to call upon Rayquaza, whose powerful presence convinces Groudon and Kyogre to stop fighting. While Rayquaza is incredibly strong, especially when using its Dragon Ascent move, it’s unique because it’s the only ancient Pokémon that can Mega Evolve. Although Ash’s Pikachu never fought Rayquaza, it’s likely Pikachu would have lost.

Mewtwo Was Created From Mew’s DNA

Ash’s Brave Actions Ceased the Violence Caused by Mewtwo

I’ve always been fascinated by Mewtwo! It’s incredible to think that this unbelievably powerful Pokémon was created from Mew’s DNA. Team Rocket, led by Giovanni, originally intended it as the ultimate battling machine, but Mewtwo quickly broke free. It wasn’t about power for Mewtwo, though; it was about finding its place in the world, and it struggled with the question of why it was created, constantly haunted by its origins and the people who brought it into existence. It’s a really compelling story!

Mewtwo, believing itself to be the ultimate Pokémon master, captured several Trainers and their Pokémon, including Ash, with the intention of creating clones. What followed was a brutal conflict that horrified onlookers, who couldn’t even consider it a legitimate Pokémon battle. While Mew attempted to intervene and stop Mewtwo, it proved ineffective. In a desperate act, Ash jumped between the two battling Pokémon, briefly losing his life. Fortunately, he was revived, and this event caused Mewtwo to reconsider its actions, ultimately ending the unnecessary fighting.

Arceus Is the Creator of the Pokemon Universe

There Once Was a Time When Arceus Nearly Destroyed the World It Created

Arceus is considered a god-like Pokémon, believed to have created the Pokémon universe. Its incredible power, including the ability to change its type, makes it highly desirable. Some characters, like Volo, become obsessed with capturing Arceus, while others, unable to obtain it, attempt to recreate its power, as seen with Lusamine and the Aether Foundation.

Arceus is generally a kind Pokémon, but it’s incredibly dangerous to provoke its anger, as the results could be devastating. In the movie Pokémon: Arceus and the Jewel of Life, it’s revealed that humans betrayed Arceus long ago. When it reappears, Arceus decides to destroy the world it created. This threat was too great to be solved through fighting, so the heroes had to travel back in time and prevent Arceus from becoming enraged in the first place.
