Despite receiving very poor reviews upon its 2025 release, the team behind the game MindsEye is continuing to develop new content and recently launched a major update. Build a Rocket Boy, the game’s developer, hopes these efforts will help revitalize the game and improve its reputation, effectively starting fresh after a difficult launch.
Launching on June 10, 2025, MindsEye is a futuristic action-adventure game with a sci-fi story focused on robots, brain implants, and computer viruses, all revolving around a powerful corporation. While the game aims for a cinematic experience and features a large, expansive world, it had a troubled launch. Players reported significant performance problems, frustrating bugs and crashes, and felt the story and gameplay weren’t deep enough. This is reflected in its poor reception: it only received a recommendation score of 8% from critics on OpenCritic and a 48% player satisfaction rate on Steam.
MindsEye Devs Seek a Fresh Start in 2026
After a rocky start with many bugs nearly eight months ago, the developers of MindsEye, Build a Rocket Boy, have announced a new stage of development for the game. This includes the recent release of Update 7, which focuses on improving the campaign experience, making the AI for both allies and enemies smarter, and making objectives easier to understand. According to Build a Rocket Boy CEO and CTO Mark Gerhard, the team has been listening to player feedback and is working quickly to improve performance, fix bugs, and make significant improvements to combat and gameplay.
The latest update for MindsEye focuses on improving the player experience during missions. The patch includes fixes for GPS and visual problems, and addresses issues that were causing players to fail missions unnecessarily. For instance, helpful characters now have more health, making missions easier without requiring constant protection. Navigating the city during missions will also be smoother thanks to added map guidance and increased visibility range for waypoints – now visible up to 1000 meters instead of just 100.
Image via IO Interactive Partners This update to our game plan for fixing Mindseye is mainly about improving what’s already there, rather than adding a lot of new content. We’re focusing on addressing player concerns and making the game more enjoyable. However, players who own the Deluxe Edition will get a brand-new street race called the Silva E-Series, set in the heart of Redrock, where they can compete for the best times worldwide. Beyond that, everyone can look forward to improvements like a better soundtrack and sound design in cutscenes, more realistic blood effects, less motion blur, and smoother animations for weapons and character movement.

They plan to focus on realizing their original vision for MindsEye through consistent and substantial updates. While details are still limited, a new expansion is planned for the coming months. This expansion will let players explore the game world more fully, introduce multiplayer gameplay, and add story content to enhance the endgame experience in this sci-fi action-adventure title.
MindsEye Update 7 Patch Notes
Hey everyone,
I’m so excited about Update 7! It feels like a really fresh coat of paint for the game, and honestly, it’s all thanks to what we, the players, have been saying. The developers are clearly listening and working hard to make things even better, and it shows. This update specifically makes the campaign way smoother – it’s so much easier to understand what I’m supposed to do, and the enemies are behaving more intelligently. Seriously, keep sending in your feedback – they’re actually using it to improve the game, and it’s amazing to be a part of it!
Update 7 brings a new street circuit race to Redrock for Deluxe Edition owners! The Silva E-Series is a fast-paced, technical challenge set in the city center, complete with grandstands, barriers, and cheering crowds. Sponsored by the Silva Corporation, this race will test your skills – aim for the fastest time and compete for a top spot on the global leaderboards!
We’ll keep providing updates and new content regularly. If you encounter any issues, please continue reporting them through our standard channels – your feedback helps us identify and fix problems faster.
Thanks,
The MindsEye Team
