Sarada Uchiha Will Awaken The Rinnegan in Boruto, And I Can Prove It

In the anime and manga series Naruto, many powerful abilities come in the form of special visual techniques, known as Dojutsu. Fans first learned about the Sharingan, and later the Byakugan. However, the most powerful of these three great Dojutsu – the Rinnegan – wasn’t revealed until much later in the story. It’s considered a legendary power, almost god-like in its strength.

Currently, in the Boruto series, no ninja possesses the Rinnegan ability. Sasuke Uchiha was the last known user, but he lost this power after being injured by Momoshiki. However, the new Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga suggests the Rinnegan might return, and many fans believe Sarada Uchiha will be the one to wield it.

Sarada is undoubtedly one of the most powerful ninjas in the Boruto series. While she didn’t have a major role early on, the later parts of the manga have really developed her character, and fans are loving what they’ve seen so far.

Sarada Uchiha has recently demonstrated the power of her Mangekyo Sharingan. While she initially awakened this ability just before the time skip, she fully unlocked and controlled it during the fight against Shinju Ryu in the Land of Wind arc, ultimately defeating the creature. Sarada’s Mangekyo Sharingan is incredibly strong, allowing her to use a technique called Ohirume. This jutsu lets her create up to four black holes, and she has complete control over their power and intensity. Importantly, Sarada can choose exactly which targets are affected by the black holes’ gravity and then crush them as she sees fit.

Sarada is incredibly powerful – even a being as strong as the Shinju can’t withstand her black hole technique, immediately placing her among the series’ strongest characters. However, Sarada isn’t satisfied with that level of strength, as she knows even greater threats exist. Her goal is to become Hokage, which means she needs to be as powerful as peak Naruto Uzumaki. Therefore, she needs to continue growing stronger, and mastering the Rinnegan is crucial for her to achieve that potential.

Sarada Can Awaken The Rinnegan In The Future

Sarada Has Inherited Sasuke’s Six Paths Powers

Sarada Uchiha has the potential to awaken the Rinnegan because she inherited this possibility from her father, Sasuke. The Rinnegan is an incredibly rare and powerful eye, first manifested by the Sage of Six Paths, Hagoromo Otsutsuki. Hagoromo gained this power because his mother, Kaguya, consumed the chakra fruit. Unlike most, Hagoromo was born with the Rinnegan, while his brother, Hamura, was born with the Byakugan, which later developed into the Tenseigan.

Zetsu says that combining the abilities of Indra and Asura will grant you a fragment of the Sage of Six Paths’ power.

Hagoromo then had kids of his own, and both of them had different powers:

Indra was born with the power of the Sharingan.
Asura did not have any kekkei genkai but had the tremendous vitality of his father.

The Rinnegan is awakened by combining the powers of Indra and Asura, essentially recreating the chakra of the Sage of Six Paths. Madara Uchiha was the first person to successfully mix these two types of chakra and unlock the Rinnegan’s power.

A character obtained a piece of Hashirama’s flesh and, close to death, integrated it into his body, which triggered the awakening of the Rinnegan. This happened only one other time in the story, with Sasuke Uchiha. Sasuke awakened the Rinnegan after encountering the Sage of Six Paths, who directly transferred his chakra. This immense power caused Sasuke’s Mangekyo Sharingan to transform into the Rinnegan, but only in his left eye.

Because Sasuke possesses the power of the Sage of Six Paths, he’s potentially given Sarada the ability to develop the Rinnegan too. Sarada inherited Sasuke’s chakra, and since Sasuke already had the Rinnegan at the time of her birth, that power was likely passed on to her. This means Sarada’s eyes could eventually evolve to unlock the Rinnegan, though what will actually cause that to happen is still unknown.

Sarada’s situation appears to be quite similar to how Himawari unlocked her Tailed Beast transformation. As many fans recall, after Kurama’s passing, he was somehow reborn within Himawari and successfully merged with her, resulting in a unique human-Tailed Beast form. It’s likely Sarada’s path will be comparable.

Kurama believed he ended up inside Himawari because she possessed Naruto’s chakra, and a fragment of him might have been passed down to her at birth. Her strong link to the Otsutsuki clan also drew him to her. A similar situation applied to Sarada, who inherited power from the Sage of Six Paths through her father, Sasuke. She likely received some of this power at birth, potentially leading to her developing the Rinnegan later on.

Whether or not Sarada eventually obtains the Rinnegan, she currently needs a power boost to exceed Sasuke’s abilities. While Sarada is already skilled, she needs to become even stronger to surpass her father and fulfill her potential as Hokage. The Mangekyo Sharingan alone isn’t sufficient for this, as its power fades over time and ultimately leads to blindness.

Sarada needs to develop her visual jutsu further, and unlocking the Rinnegan is crucial for her progress. If she remains limited to her Mangekyo Sharingan while Kawaki and Boruto continue to grow stronger, it wouldn’t make sense considering the overall power balance of the series. Therefore, Sarada obtaining the Rinnegan is essential for the story to move forward.
