It offers a huge selection of anime, and until recently, has kept its subscription prices steady – a perk fans enjoyed. However, that’s about to change. Beginning in March 2026, all Crunchyroll subscription plans will increase in price by $2 per month.

Crunchyroll, the popular anime streaming service enjoyed by fans worldwide outside of Japan, recently announced it’s increasing its subscription prices. As you might expect, many fans are disappointed with this change.

Good news for fans: the price increase won’t happen until March 2026. Starting then, all subscription plans – Fan, Mega Fan, and Ultimate Fan – will cost $2 more per month. The Fan Tier will go from $7.99 to $9.99, the Mega Fan Tier from $11.99 to $13.99, and the Ultimate Fan Tier, our most premium option, from $15.99 to $17.99.

For the Fan Tier, this is the first price increase since 2019. However, many subscribers are unhappy with the recent price hikes for the Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan Tiers. These tiers saw increases in 2024, which is quite soon after the last change, and this rapid increase has turned some anime fans away.

I’ve noticed Crunchyroll is raising prices, and it’s not just happening to those of us in the United States. It seems like a global price increase, though the actual amount will differ depending on where you are and what currency they use. I’ve heard, for example, that in France the price is only going up by one euro – a smaller increase than what we’re seeing here. Honestly, most fans figured prices would eventually go up, and it sounds like we might see these increases happen more often in the coming years, which is a bit disappointing.

Crunchyroll’s Mega Fan membership is their mid-level option. It includes everything in the Fan tier, plus the ability to stream on up to 4 devices, access to the Crunchyroll Game Vault, and HD downloads for offline viewing. Members also receive a discount of up to 10% in the Crunchyroll store, which is higher than the 5% discount offered in the Fan tier.

Crunchyroll’s Ultimate Fan tier is their most premium option, offering the most benefits. On top of everything included in the Mega Fan tier, subscribers get to stream on up to six devices at once, enjoy a 15% discount in the Crunchyroll store, and read manga through Crunchyroll’s digital library.
