According to a new report, the PlayStation 5 version of Starfield is expected to launch on April 7, 2026. While Microsoft, Sony, and Bethesda haven’t officially confirmed anything, rumors have been spreading online for months about Starfield coming to PS5, especially as Xbox has been releasing more of its games on PlayStation. A reliable source now suggests the release is happening sooner than many expected – in just two months.
After a 25-year gap, Bethesda’s new universe, Starfield, generated enormous excitement before its 2023 launch. However, the game received a lot of criticism from players who felt it didn’t live up to expectations. While critics generally liked Starfield – giving it an 83 on Metacritic and calling it an excellent RPG – fans weren’t so impressed. Even three years later, Steam reviews remain “mixed,” with players frequently criticizing the game’s outdated Creation Engine, constant loading screens, and uninspired exploration. The recently released Shattered Space DLC hasn’t fared much better, currently receiving a “mostly negative” rating.
Starfield May Come to PS5 in April 2026
Even though Starfield received mixed reviews, Bethesda is still updating the game and may even release it on PlayStation 5. A new report from PPE, citing a reliable source named Graczdari who previously leaked the Microsoft Flight Simulator PS5 port, claims Starfield will arrive on PS5 on April 7, 2026. While Bethesda hasn’t confirmed this, Graczdari, who works with physical game distribution in Europe, says both Standard and Premium Editions of Starfield are scheduled to launch for PS5 in about two months.
The report doesn’t mention the long-awaited 2.0 update for Starfield, but it’s possible Bethesda will release it at the same time as the game’s version for PlayStation 5. Several content creators and journalists reportedly saw the update last year, though they aren’t allowed to share details. Some suggest it’s a significant update, but not as massive as the 2.0 update for Cyberpunk 2077, which drastically changed that game. If Bethesda does release Starfield on PS5, launching a major update alongside it would likely encourage players to give the game another look.
A new announcement could be coming soon if recent rumors are true. While it’s wise to be skeptical of leaks, Sony is reportedly planning a “State of Play” event in February 2026, which would be a good opportunity to reveal a major PlayStation 5 port. Reliable source NateTheHate says the event is happening this month, though he hasn’t shared details about the games that will be featured. Fans are hoping to see more of highly anticipated first-party games like Saros and Marvel’s Wolverine, which are expected to release later this year.
Recently, a source known for reliable information about games—PPE—incorrectly reported that Grand Theft Auto 6 would have a different release date for physical and digital copies. Although PPE has been accurate in the past, Take-Two Interactive’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, has confirmed that the game is still planned to launch physically and digitally at the same time. Rumors suggested Rockstar might delay the physical release to prevent leaks, but that doesn’t appear to be happening.
