Final Fantasy 7 Remake is the first game in a three-part series that reimagines the beloved 1997 RPG. However, don’t expect it to be a quick experience – it’s much more than just one-third the length of the original game. Most players will likely spend at least 30 hours exploring the updated city of Midgar, and those aiming for 100% completion or playing on hard mode could easily spend 60 hours or more. The Episode INTERmission DLC will add roughly another five hours of gameplay.

The chapters in Final Fantasy 7 Remake aren’t all the same length. Some are shorter and focus on the main story, while others include optional side quests, called ‘Odd Jobs’. How Many Chapters are There in Final Fantasy 7 Remake?

Final Fantasy 7 Remake has 18 chapters and 26 optional side quests, called ‘Odd Jobs,’ which are located in four of those chapters. However, you won’t be able to complete all 26 in a single playthrough. Choices you make in Chapter 9 – like your decisions with Chocobo Sam or whether to drink a mysterious beverage – will lock you out of a couple of quests while opening up others, meaning the maximum you can complete is 24.

There are two more chapters in INTERmission, set in the Shinra Building and the Sector 7 Slums.
