Honestly, when Embark announced ARC Raiders was coming out so close to Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, everyone thought it was going to flop. Those are huge games with massive followings! But wow, were we all wrong. ARC Raiders has absolutely blown up! It’s sold over 12 million copies, won Best Multiplayer Game at the 2025 Game Awards, and the servers are still packed on both consoles and PC. A big part of that success is definitely thanks to all the streamers and YouTubers who started playing it before launch – they really helped get the word out!

Cloakzy Urges ARC Raiders Devs Not to Listen to Streamers

Streamer Cloakzy recently cautioned the developers of ARC Raiders against taking advice from streamers during a live stream (as reported on Reddit). He believes that listening to streamer feedback would ultimately harm the game. Cloakzy, a former professional gamer, explained that ARC Raiders is designed for casual players, not hardcore gamers who play for extended periods. He argues that the game should include some exceptionally powerful weapons, and used Call of Duty as an example of a franchise that suffered from listening too much to streamer feedback, calling it a “dead” game. He did clarify that streamers can be helpful when pointing out bugs or suggesting improvements to game quality and overall enjoyment, but not when it comes to core game balance.

Cloakzy stated that the game is meant to be played casually for enjoyment, and shouldn’t be turned into a competitive esport. He believes it will never become one.

The quick popularity of ARC Raiders is likely due to several things, but many players appreciate how approachable it is compared to other ‘extraction shooter’ games. While Escape from Tarkov is incredibly complex, requiring deep knowledge of things like ammunition, ARC Raiders keeps things simple and easy to learn. It’s not about players being smarter in one game versus another; ARC Raiders simply respects your time and doesn’t demand endless hours of grinding to become skilled. Because the game aims to attract a more casual audience, streamer Cloakzy is advising the developers, Embark, not to make changes based on requests from professional players who want weapons adjusted or major alterations made simply to give themselves an advantage.

This isn’t the first time players have voiced concerns to Embark about the game’s condition. Last month, popular streamer TheBurntPeanut considered leaving ARC Raiders because of a surge in cheaters over the Christmas holidays. Peanut, a major figure in both the ARC Raiders community and the broader streaming world, demanded Embark address the problem or he would stop playing. He described the cheating issue in Embark’s new game as “ridiculous,” explaining he was constantly being killed by hackers and players who were watching his stream to ruin his gameplay.

Embark, the studio behind ARC Raiders, has responded to feedback from players and streamers. While some still want harsher penalties for cheaters, Embark recently updated its anti-cheat measures. Now, if one account within a Steam Family Sharing group is caught cheating in ARC Raiders, all accounts sharing that game license will be banned.
