During the presentation of Tesla’s latest self-driving vehicle, the “Cybercab,” a Shiba Inu—the dog breed often associated with Dogecoin—was given center stage, causing Dogecoin fans to go wild with excitement.
Dogecoin Community Reacts
On platform X (previously known as Twitter), the authentic Dogecoin account playfully referred to Elon Musk’s image as a “Shiba Inu cab.” This hint has ignited extensive conjecture among users, suggesting that Tesla might be considering incorporating Dogecoin into its payment options.

Notable figures within the Dogecoin community voiced their enthusiasm on a platform, as DogeDesigner (@cb_doge), often engaging with Musk, exclaimed: “Hold on, did Elon suggest we can purchase a Tesla Cybertruck with Dogecoin? He casually mentioned ‘You’ll be able to buy one,’ just as Dogecoin appeared riding in the Cybertruck!
Another influential figure in the DOGE community, Sir Doge of the Coin (@dogeofficialceo), noted the significance of the moment: “Tesla featured a Shiba Inu Doge in their Robotaxi unveiling video.” Community member Đoge420 (@dogecoine420) echoed the speculation, questioning whether DOGE would be accepted as payment for the new vehicle. “Wait, did Elon just say we can buy a Tesla Cybercab with Dogecoin? He dropped “You’ll be able to buy one” right when Doge appeared riding in the Cybercab!” she wrote.
Despite the fact that Astro (@Astro1062) emphasized the mysterious aspect of Tesla’s announcements, they pointed out a lack of detail about payment options for Cybercab rides scheduled for 2026, as well as a lack of information regarding XPayments from X and Starlink’s partnership with Dogecoin. The New Tesla Cybercab
During a presentation held on a movie studio lot in Hollywood, Elon Musk personally demonstrated the Cybercab. He emphasized that traditional cars are often idle for most of their time, but if they were autonomous, they might see use up to five or even ten times more frequently.
The Cybercab is a two-person vehicle with doors that open like scissors, without a steering wheel or accelerator pedal, highlighting its fully self-driving abilities. Its interior resembles the minimalist design of Tesla’s Model 3 and Model Y, boasting a big central touchscreen. Remarkably, the Cybercab is designed for inductive, wireless charging, removing the requirement for a conventional plug-in connection.
Though particular technical aspects like range, battery capacity, and charging rate weren’t shared, Elon Musk implied an aggressive production schedule. The production is set to commence in 2026, with the cars projected to be priced under $30,000. Musk envisions a future where Tesla taxis, operated through a dedicated app, could become the norm, aiming to slash transportation costs down to just $0.20 per mile—a substantial decrease compared to the typical $1 per mile for city buses.
Beyond the reveal of the Cybertruck, Musk also introduced “Robovan,” an autonomous minibus designed to hold around 20 people. At the same event, Tesla’s humanoid robot project, Optimus, was showcased, with several prototypes demonstrating their abilities. Musk shared that his team has made significant strides with Optimus and foresees these robots playing a significant role in our society. The estimated price range for one of these human-like robots is between $20,000 and $30,000.
Elon Musk has consistently emphasized self-driving cars as a key component of Tesla’s future, even proposing the idea that Tesla vehicle owners could contribute to a robotic taxi service to earn extra income.
DOGE Price Reaction Fails To Materialize
Despite no formal declarations yet, Tesla’s use of the Shiba Inu mascot in relation to the Cybercab or other services has sparked talks about possible collaborations with Dogecoin. Musk’s past influence on Dogecoin’s value through social media activity and endorsements fuels these discussions and speculations within the community.
Despite a 1.4% increase over the past day, Dogecoin’s price movement has been largely in sync with broader cryptocurrency market trends and hasn’t demonstrated any significant response yet. As of now, Dogecoin is priced at approximately $0.10845.
