One Piece: 8 Strongest Characters Luffy Has Surpassed In The Final Saga

Monkey D. Luffy, the main character in One Piece, has grown tremendously since he began his adventure. He started as a relatively weak pirate, but now he’s become one of the most powerful figures in the world – one of the Four Emperors. Recent experiences on Egghead Island and now in Elbaf have made him even stronger and helped him master his abilities.

Luffy began his adventure as a relatively inexperienced fighter, but he’s now proven himself stronger than many of the most powerful characters in the series, and still has room to grow. Here’s a list of One Piece characters Luffy has already overcome in the current arc.

Kuzan

Blackbeard’s Strongest Underling

Kuzan, formerly an Admiral in the Navy, is one of the most powerful characters in One Piece. He possesses the dangerous ability of the Hie Hie no Mi and, combined with his masterful Haki, poses a significant threat to even the strongest Emperors (Yonko) in the series.

Kuzan is incredibly powerful and a formidable fighter, even capable of going toe-to-toe with Akainu. However, he’d struggle to defeat Luffy. We’ve seen an older Garp consistently defeat Kuzan on Egghead, and Luffy has already demonstrated abilities that surpass even that version of Garp. Luffy’s Gear 5 is a significant advantage, and his Haki is far more advanced. Ultimately, Luffy would win against Kuzan quickly and decisively.

Dracule Mihawk

The World’s Strongest Swordsman

I’ve always been impressed by Dracule Mihawk – he’s widely known as the World’s Strongest Swordsman and is a truly formidable character in the world of One Piece. With a bounty of 3.59 billion berries, he’s clearly on the same power level as the Yonko, those incredibly strong pirate emperors. Luffy isn’t much of a swordsman himself, but I think if they ever fought seriously, Luffy would actually be able to defeat Mihawk.

Luffy defeated Kaido and has recently demonstrated the power to fight both an Elder and an Admiral simultaneously. This clearly puts him beyond Mihawk’s capabilities – he’s stronger, and there’s no real contest between them, no matter how strong people think Mihawk is.

Marine Admirals

The Military Powerhouse Of The Government

As a huge One Piece fan, I’m constantly amazed by the Marine Admirals! They’re incredibly strong, and it’s no surprise they each have a bounty around 3 billion berries thanks to the Cross Guild. What really sets them apart is their mastery of Haki, combined with some seriously powerful Devil Fruit abilities. They’re a force to be reckoned with!

During the battle on Egghead Island, Luffy managed to defeat Kizaru without using his full power. He even seriously injured the Admiral multiple times. While Kizaru is a formidable opponent, Luffy proved to be the stronger fighter, and would likely dominate any other Admiral as well.

Rayleigh

The Right Arm Of The Pirate King

Silvers Rayleigh, known as the Dark King, was an incredibly powerful pirate and Roger’s trusted first mate. He later trained Luffy in Haki during the two-year timeskip. Despite his advanced age, Rayleigh remains a formidable opponent. He was able to force Blackbeard to retreat from Amazon Lily, though he admitted his aging body would prevent him from winning a full-scale fight.

Rayleigh remains incredibly powerful, but Luffy would still win in a fight. Luffy has much greater mastery of Haki, and his ability to transform into Nika gives him a significant advantage.

Kozuki Oden

The Strongest Samurai

Kozuki Oden was an incredibly powerful character in One Piece, but he doesn’t always get the recognition he deserves. He was at the level of the strongest pirates, like the Yonko, and Kaido himself considered Oden to be one of the five most formidable opponents he’d ever faced.

Kaido considered Oden to be incredibly powerful – strong enough to potentially defeat him in their past fight. However, Luffy would now win against Oden. Luffy has become stronger, mastering Gear 5 and all types of Advanced Haki, allowing him to surpass Oden’s former strength.

Big Mom

A Former Yonko

Luffy never had a real chance to battle Big Mom, but he’s strong enough to do so now. While Big Mom has a frightening Devil Fruit power, its main ability, Soul Pocus, wouldn’t work against him.

During the Wano Country Arc, it became clear that Luffy’s Haki is stronger than Big Mom’s. While a fight against her would be incredibly difficult, Luffy would ultimately be victorious.

Kaido

A Terrifying Yonko

I’m so hyped about how Luffy finally overcame Kaido! It was incredible watching their fight in Wano – Luffy actually matched Kaido’s strength! Then, when he unlocked Gear 5, he went beyond even a Yonko’s level. I’ve seen some people say Luffy only won because Kaido wasn’t at 100%, but honestly, let’s not forget Luffy died during that battle! He was running on fumes when he first used Gear 5, so it’s even more amazing that he managed to win!

Luffy’s mastery of Gear 5 has grown significantly, allowing him to use it repeatedly and confidently battle several Elders and even an Admiral. It’s becoming clear that Luffy has surpassed Kaido in strength.

Garp

The Hero Of The Marines

Luffy’s grandfather, Garp, is incredibly strong – he was once a rival to the Pirate King himself. The recent events on Egghead and the flashback to Elbaf clearly showed his immense power, capable of defeating entire pirate crews single-handedly. He was even winning his fight against Kuzan until Shiryu betrayed him and inflicted a serious injury.

Garp demonstrated immense power on Egghead, easily defeating everyone there and even shattering the island’s massive skull. While Garp possesses incredibly strong Haki, he’s admitted his strength isn’t what it used to be. In contrast, Luffy is constantly getting stronger, and is now likely more powerful than Garp in his older age.
